Happy 4th July from Syracuse, NY.

I'm pretty cynical about stuff like that I have to say but I'm a guest of your country at the minute so I don't want to be ungrateful.

Private fireworks are illegal in New York State so it's been fairly quiet here although in previous years when I've been here that doesn't seem to have stopped anyone.

I hate it in UK around November 5th (which mostly begins around the start of October in Manchester) and I think fireworks should only be in organised displays.

Thank you for letting everyone know that. I think we are on the same wavelength. However, I don't know what possessed someone to post this in the General Discussion forum. If I posted a topic such as this, I would have posted it in the Members Only forum.

I do appreciate you letting everyone know that there is more to the Fourth of July than fireworks, though.

Fireworks are ok, at least when I can see them. I dislike it too when neighbors set off fireworks. In my city, it's illegal to shoot off private fireworks. That doesn't stop them though, even though the police do a pretty good job of patroling the streets for illegal fireworks.

an realized that explained it. Minnesota has a significant Native American minority. That's probably why it would not be acceptable in parts of the state.

When I was younger I absolutely hated fireworks! I am less sensitive than I used to be as I've learnt have more tolerance.

Most years we go to see the firework shows, but we're doing something different this year. We are having a barbecue with some other families and then we are lighting our own fireworks.

Private fireworks are banned in my city, but that doesn't stop me or my neighbors either. We also make some homemade ones that are far bigger than what you can buy at fireworks stands. We just go easy on the ones that shoot into the air that would act as a beacon for the cops.

I wasn't sure where to post it. It seemed Aspie-related because of the sensory issue involved, so into General Discussion it went, but if one of the mods wants to boot it over to Members Only, that'd be cool.

Anywho, visual fireworks aren't nearly as bad as M-80s and other nasties. I hate it when I'm walking down the street and *KABLAM*. I don't get along well with noise.
