so, was there ever a “mandate to inform” until that was no longer the case at some point? If so, when did that change happen?

The latest casualty of COVID 19 that I have heard of is that the University of Iowa is discontinuing a few of their sports programs because of lost revenue. Even before hearing about this, I have been been feeling more bothered by, well, all things 2020 and what the coming years may be like because of this f***ing nonsense. We had 9/11 and 19 years later we have a pandemic. What kind of crap is gonna happen 19 years from now?

As many of you already know from another thread, I don’t fully understand why people still support the president despite him having a role in the pandemic. Recently, I have had enough of keeping quiet about political stuff, so I’ve been posting stuff on Facebook and retweeting a bunch of Joe Biden’s tweets on Twitter(example: “imagine where we would be right now if we had a president who listened to scientists”). Yesterday, my uncle who supports Trump responded to both of my Facebook posts that many people/news sources are trying to make Trump look bad. I’ve always loved me uncle. He’s always given me good advice and helped me feel better about myself over the years, so it sucks that we have a huge difference in political belief especially when it pertains to an issue in which I believe the president has made things so much worse and many other people would agree with me. I feel very perplexed between family and speaking out about things that bother me so much.

My Uncle had said that he had cut off travel to China in late January and that Biden had called him xenophobic for it. I’ve also heard that people called Trump racists when he finally did s**t down all borders in March. It seems as if the left wingers got their beliefs mixed up there.

CNN is biased toward the left and Fox News is even more biased towards the right, which I think is a major reason why politics are so divided. I just wish all the news we got was more accurate and politicians all over the globe are real leaders and have a damn heart.

The COVID vaccine can’t come soon enough. The pandemic and the continued affects of it often makes me feel existential dread.

Well you aren't the only one, I fully agree with you on the president...I mean damn he's so incompetent its hard for me to even acknowledge him as the president. I did watch the speeches from the DNC from Biden and Harris and well I can say I think they would be a much better team that would actually want to help this country rather than The traitor Trump and his butt plug Mike Pence.

Also I do look at local news of my state but for national stuff I just look at the BBC and Aljazeera because they are usually better at saying what is actually going on here than Fox and CNN.

Uhh I hate to come off like an ass...but err is it maybe possible it would be better to inquire about that, in the thread where that is the topic. I mean I am sorry its just this post is specifically about feelings about the state of the world and the O.P does have a specific thread to discuss the girl at the gas-station. So well why is it necessary to ask them in this thread what happened with the petrol station girl? Like as in why couldn't you have asked in the thread they specifically posted about that. I mean you even quoted them talking about a derecho in Iowa not getting proper news coverage to respond with 'yeah sorry, but what about that chick'.

Like I guess its just why are you trying to derail a thread about the state of the world by bringing up a different post by the O.P that's not related to the topic of this particular post of theirs? Does seem kind of rude...just my opinion.

It reads kinda like 'well who cares how you feel about the state of the world...lets talk about a different topic entirely.' Maybe I am overreacting but well for some reason I felt the need to say it.

It was “to serve in the public interest” for many years whenever a broadcasting station came up for license renewal by the FCC. The demise of “public interest” started during the Reagan administration, and continues to this day. It accelerated when the Fairness Doctrine was thrown away, IMNSHO. Over the decades, the FCC has done nothing but screw up any and everything, the latest being the “repack” of the TV spectrum, no thanks to the free for all in allocating new frequencies for cellular telephone use.

There’s something smelling really bad when all the radio stations in a market are owned by the same corporation. For example, every radio station in York And Adams Counties, PA, save for York College, Gettysburg College, and First St. John’s Lutheran Church (which is low-powered to begin with (I can’t even receive them 3 blocks away from the church when I do venture downtown) are owned by Cumulus Media. Ditto with Lancaster county, where, with the exception of WDAC, Franklin and Marshall College, Millersville University, and Lancaster College of the Bible, the commercial radio stations are owned by I❤️Radio.

TV broadcasting in the area is just as bad, with Hearst, TEGNA, Sinclair, and Media General owning the major network affiliates in south central PA.

In short, the big monopolies have taken over, and there no real way to discern hype from truth. The monopolies also have little or no interest in serving these communities, except to brainwash the citizens of the community.

Fair enough, I just do feel that the world is in kind of a messed up place so I think peoples experience with that really needs to be heard because I mean I never saw a pandemic like this in my life, I never thought we could have a president like the current one with obvious incompetence and obvious disregard for this country and its citizens. And I am just sick of saying 'i never saw this before, what the hell is going on' in regards to the crappy stuff going on in this country. So yeah sorry I jumped on your post like that I just don't want people to feel like their thoughts about that stuff doesn't matter. And lol not to derail but also I have had a headache and my eyes feel very gritty from all the smoke here in Colorado for a couple weeks now, so admittedly I am probably a bit more irritable than I would normally be. LIke at this point when I go outside I don't even know what exactly I am breathing I mean I am alive so there must be some oxygen but who knows what else.

Even with all the precautionary measures being done, people keep testing positive and others keep dying.

So, y'know how it's made me irritated to see couples not being able to see each other? Well, apperantly a TV show has been made called "Love In The Time Of Corona".

No one needs to be exposed to the raw painfulness of this pandemic. Cancel that s**t!
