My question is, if Biden is this bad then why did so many people think that he was the best choice to begin with? Same goes for Hillary in 2016. And while I'm at it, why the hell did so many right wingers think that Trump was the best republican candidate?

During the Iowa Caucuses, it appeared as if Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, and Pete Buttigieg all had better odds than Biden. Like, what the hell happened there!?!

It doesn’t matter what people think. That’s not how American politics works. Billionaires decide who they want running the show & then they spend $$$ to tell people what to think. Someone(s) with deep pockets decided trump was their man, someone(s) else decided Biden was theirs.
Um, I thought it was? Like, It's really not that people just vote/caucus for whichever dem/rep candidate they want to be the nominee for their party of choice? If that's true, what the hell is the point of the caucuses and primaries? That would also be as messed up as the electoral collage. Trump is president even though he lost by 3 MILLION VOTES!

It’s a charade.. an illusion of democracy to keep people placated. The winner is almost always whoever gets the most fundraising money showered upon them by special interest Billionaires. Is what it is.

Most countries’ governments are corrupt. The USA is just really blatant about it while pretending they aren’t and gullible people believe them.

Honestly I don't think Trump is really an antichrist, he's just another psycho who lucked into power and is abusing that power to hurt people on a massive scale. This is a recurring theme in human history that has been repeated since the days of The Roman Empire.

if he isn't, then he likely will lead directly to the antichrist if he isn't actually working for him now.

"Merica" as a super power is starting to fade. The country itself is run by powerful interests and elites. Its like George Carlin once said, you have to be asleep to believe The American dream. I think America is less screwed with Biden but how much less, I don't know. I've even questioned if it's even worth voting anymore.

ya gotta vote for the lesser of two evils as long as it is possible, that is analogous to bailing a sinking boat until the bucket breaks or the boat splits apart.

I do kind of feel not voting this time would be wrong personally. Now, with other elections there's been just a matter of strong disagreement, in my eyes but I didn't feel if the other side won, that The USA was in danger. For example 2012 or 92,96.

To me, with Trump, it's not about ideology totally it's just that, this man is off his rocker. Not to mention he nasty, arrogant, and corrupt to the very core. So I will have to go with Biden.

I consider myself more Republican then Democrat for sure, fiscally conservative and socially moderate(I do fully support gay and trans-gendered rights). I actually like Canadian and British Conservatives much better, as I feel I have a lot more common with them. American Conservatism has been overrun by: Religious nuts, gun nuts, and cut throat corporatism.

For what it's worth but this is coming from a man who was pardoned by Trump. I hope he's wrong.

During the Iowa Caucuses, it appeared as if Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, and Pete Buttigieg all had better odds than Biden. Like, what the hell happened there!?!

Biden

Biden was very popular with black voters. That meant he was in a good position to win the South (where sometimes a majority of Dem voters are black) and it also put him in a good position for the larger Northern states like Illinois and Michigan.

When he won South Carolina, it became apparent that he was the favourite and most of his rivals pulled out and endorsed him, including Buttigieg. Then he absolutely destroyed Bloomberg and Sanders in the remaining states, even ones where Sanders was the favourite.

The black voters who remember segregation and the Dixiecrats, and the people who look up to them, will always prefer someone who they know and can depend on.

Trump

In previous elections the Republican Party pushed religious ethics quite strongly. Trump broke away from that by softly signalling support for left-wing social causes, while also shifting hard to an anti-immigration, anti-trade, anti-Islam stance. This helped him stand out. He distinguished himself from a large, fairly generic field. Furthermore, the Republican “winner take all” primaries made it easy for him to pick up many delegates even with only a plurality of votes. Despite several large states only voting when he was already confirmed as the nominee, he only got 44% of the vote.

My thoughts

Neither man is senile.

Biden is too left-wing for my tastes. He’s adopted 80% of Sanders’ policies. I would have preferred a liberal like Bill Weld or John Delaney, and I thought Hillary’s policy platform was almost perfect. That said, while I think some of his left-wing policies are bad ideas, he isn’t someone I have a moral objection to, and he’s clearly capable.

Trump doesn’t have the basic competency required for the role, his foreign policy is erratic and dangerous, he never takes responsibility for his actions, and he has less than one significant achievement per year.

People have been predicting imminent WWIII since 1945, and an imminent second American Civil War since the first one. They’ve been wrong. Maybe one day they’ll be right, but the chances of them being right this day are low.

I would have said that until a few days ago, but then I compared a before he was president and after and he seemed wayyyy more articulate prior to being president (Trump). Not trying to smear him, but he makes me wonder.

Let's face it, you can't fight a fascist coup by 'voting' against it. :|

that is because you're voting against a bunch of people who are one way or another complicit in it themselves.

Man! I feel ya!! After news coverages of the lootings and burnings and Trump saying "There are good people on both sides." after what happened in Virginia, my husband told me that if it got worse, he doesn't want to live anymore and I agreed with him even before he said it. Unfortunately, our daughter overheard us and got very depressed. :(

I live my life, regardless of what's going on in the country.

At least in NYC, the protests (except for a few days when there was looting after the George Floyd murder) doesn't really affect the every day life of the vast majority of people.

I live in a mixed neighborhood. Some people stick to their "own kind," but other people of many races are good neighbors, and race/ethnicity doesn't matter.

I took the Census in my neighborhood. That's why I know the demographics of my neighborhood. Many "minorities," people of European descent actually in the minority---but it's a strong minority. There was one day, during the George Floyd protests, when people marched near a local park. Most of the protesters were black--but there were folks of other races present, too. They marched peacefully. No idiots. They wore masks.
