yeah technically I am 8 pounds overweight for my height

That’s 4kgs. There’s 3,500 calories in one kg. So just cut carbs.

What’s your height? Imagine a baby weighing 5 kgs over weight, it looks more on a shorter person.

BMI is an outdated and inaccurate health predictor. It is particularly flawed and fails to take into account the sum of the following:
-race
-gender
-age
-fat mass vs. muscle mass
-genetics
-other health conditions
-body mass distribution (which is different in individuals depending on the aforementioned factors)

All weight is not equal. For example, muscle is much denser than fat and also takes up less space. The Western world's dependence on this metric for health and fitness is an unhealthy one. All bodies are not equal. Body weight is not always an indicator of bad health.

For those wanting some more info on how the BMI system was created, this is a pretty cool article. The person who came up with this formula never intended for it to be used the way it is. The data/science behind this system is not solid.

My suggestion for you if you are worried about your weight/health:
Have a talk with a certified nutritionist + your doctor (if your doctor is obsessed with only your BMI, get another). Set healthy goals if you feel the need to do so.

How does your race affect your weight lol

Body mass index is accurate. Measures weight and height? Yah it doesn’t measure cholesterol but it does see if your weight is appropriate for your height. Mirander keer is 45kgs and is 5’10. 45 kgs on a woman that is 5’0 is different to a woman that is 5’10.

I was wondering about the doctor's obsession with BMI. I've been on antipsychotics my entire life and I've always been heavier. My psychiatrist mentions not obsessing over a number and just eating within my calorie limit and exercise as well as considering my genetics yet my doctor who does my physicals and I rarely see (the last time I was super sick I was volunteering at a daycare) goes based on my BMI which says I should weigh 140 or less.

I went to a dietician who said I should weigh 180 to 215 (I think????). As soon as I get my apartment, I'll probably switch doctors.

Lol does anyone actually lose weight when they eat 1200?

Then just eat more protein and work out more? Eat more vegetables? I’ve been forced to take a lot of antipsychotics depot injections that make you extremely hungry and even when you do eat you feel like you haven’t eaten anything and same with sleep you feel like bleh.

Just binge on vegetables and hot foods soups ect green tea is supposed to boost your metabolism. 4kgs is easily lost but it is a lot harder to lose weight when your closest to your ideal weight than when you start. For example if you’re obese you burn more calories than a person doing the same exercise.

People lose 2kgs a week?

I don’t know. Ask a doctor - specialist. Who can assess you properly.

What are you trying to achieve? Weight loss or muscle ? I think you should just focus on your vital organ health and insure you eat healthy. That should be the primary focus and goal.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson apparently is 1.96m tall and weighs 118kg. His BMI is 30.7, which is classified as obese, and yet if you look at the guy, it's obvious that he doesn't have much fat on his body.
