I’m a Boomer, and I don’t feel guilt, no matter how hard someone may try.
Your first sentence makes no sense. It confuses past and future, and is wildly inaccurate about the history of technology. Since you won't answer my questions, I assume that you already feel guilty, but refuse to acknowledge the plight of today's youth. Dealing with AS is enough of a burden without trying to escape the mainstream world economy that I don't expect a lot of foresight, but if there are no regrets in hindsight, the outrage falls upon people like me who still try to help.
have to think the.minority that is the billionaire class wants very much for things to remain the same as they have been . They have control of the government and can only benefit from such a situation . am not sure they have much to do with the values that the boomers , wanted but rather the uber wealthy class. And do everything they can to reinforce that situation.
if you can keep the masses in poverty, then you can maintain these situations .That keep the over wealthy in the positions they enjoy, and control of the Government .And any governmental programs .

Except for all the really bad things that were done by one generation. Besides that, yeah, I totally agree.

Cannot help but think that this blame on boomers is a different issue in reality . The people
that are more likely responsible are the billionaires and the people in government that owe there positions to people who are the big money class of society , whom for generations want to keep things the same . And do not have the interests of the people whom are trying to get by in the world. (The generation that comes after them ) . If they don't do thing s like use up resources
including social security . These big money people run out of places to rip off the next generation
from... Renewable resources do not pay profits like burning up what the next generation needs to
survive . ![]()

Loves velcro,
IMO the biggest "wealth transfer" that is robbing young people (and anyone else who is not already a property owner) is "property value" inflation, making even the cheapest housing more and more unaffordable in many places.
When I was a kid, it was common even for lower-middle-class people to own not just one home, but also a vacation home.
These days you pretty much have to be a multi-millionaire to own even a studio apartment in the more high-demand areas. And a lot of these apartments are not even occupied, but are being kept deliberately off the market by real estate speculators.
"Property value" inflation is propped up artificially by government policies, primarily residential zoning laws. We desperately need upzoning (a loosening of zoning laws) in the more high-demand areas. We desperately need more and more people to become knowledgeable about this matter, and to organize politically as a counterweight to the forces of organized real estate greed.

Have often felt that that real Estate people, i have dealt with are merely extensions of the greed of Local governmental bodies . Found the more successful a real estate agent is, the more they hold themselves away from regular public people . And do not have the interests of the neighbourhood
in mind, but propagandize themselves as being just that . And only associate with people whom believe their BS .But they seem very willing to invest their time in helping the goals of big investors .whom get huge loans from the city government .

The people who get the "huge loans" from city governments are usually developers -- who, IMO, are often evil but NOT the worst of the evils. At least the developers want to build something, thus adding to the total supply of housing -- even if they are building it only for the rich.
The worst offenders, in my opinion, are not the developers but the home-owners' associations and "civic associations" representing homeowners. These groups are the main backers of laws to keep population density low and thus restrict the supply of housing, keeping prices artificially high.
Another big problem is investors who buy unoccupied dwellings and don't sell them or rent them out, but just hold on to them to sell later. This too is a big limitation on the supply of housing.

I've really enjoyed your contributions to this discussion, Mona.
That said, I don't actually think vacant properties are a big limitation upon the supply of housing in the US. There are very few properties which are deliberately kept empty for speculative reasons. However, there is an issue with "land banking", where properties aren't developed at all because of speculation that they'll be worth more if built later.
We need to kneecap the NIMBYs, abolish most zoning restrictions, change incentive structures to discourage speculation (a Land Value Tax is basically a magic bullet), and invest large amounts of money on building new housing.

The Boomers had not caused the Great Depression, as they hadn't been born yet.
Nothing wrong with social security, as it has literally provided life for millions of elderly and disabled people.
Yes, boomers had a lot better workplace wages, security, and benefits due to unionization. That those things have been denied to too many today is hardly the fault of the Baby Boomers as a group, but of the greedy business class.

And which generation of humans do those greedy business class folks belong to? Same for the politicians of their day and anyone else involved in creating this mess?
The Great Generation? Gen X? Z? Millennials?
