Nice... when you think about it, not starting wars is getting peace at bargain price - almost everywhere, nearly all the time :D
The problem is, once a war has started, no such bargain opportunity as long as the agressor has power and will to continue agression.

Poles and Ukrainians are on too good of terms to be Romulans and Vulcans.
If we are sticking to Star Trek metaphors, I'd consider the Russians Cardassisns and the countries of the former Eastern Bloc to be Bajorans. The Cardassians brutally occupied and exploited Bajor for decades before being pushed out. Now they are resentful at losing their influence and trying to push back, while Ukraine/Bajor considers joining NATO/the Federation for protection against its former occupiers.
These comparisons are imperfect, but dang it I like Star Trek, so why not?

We had our bloody cards of history... I guess we're coming to a point where we become ready to honestly talk about it, both sides.
No desire to form a unified "Ni'Var", though. Just a good, solid friendship overcoming old fights would be best.

Of course. Polish-Ukrainian relations have been up and down over the years. They're at a better place than they were in, say, 1919. The fear of and mutual support against Russia seems to be outweighing historical enmity for now. There are certainly elements in both countries which have grievances with the other.
