What is going on these days are things I never dreamed I’d see in my country.

i always had the suspicion that slavery would come back here, only it would be all the pofolk and not just POC.

And the north is going to be "woke" on steroids because
1. Wokes can say we are right this country was born racist, still is just as racist.

2. Wokes will be eager to remind us that MLK has been proven wrong and you few moderates claiming to admire him (when in truth you are just as racist as Jefferson Davis), DeSantis and his lost cause nice slave owner BS is proving us right, Alabama defying SCOTUS is proving us right, Anti-Trans laws in all these states are proving us right. f**k you, f**k you, f**k you, f**k you naive racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist scum.

3. No more pussyfooting around, no more caution, we need to get rid of the existential threat by any means necessary.

It certainly benefited the Nazis, presumably Florida will align with them at some point.

I was thinking of the genocide that took place in the Americas, it's much more relevant to American history.

I see. As a European brought up among Jewish people, the Holocaust is the main genocide I think of when people say 'genocide.'

Slavery probably was profitable, but that didn't make it right. The problem with Capatalism is the only goal is profit. Also, slavery was also not politically right, as Abe Lincoln was Republican, Dems used to be the ones oppressing blacks.

I believe saying that "blacks learned skills from slavery" is fake history. While its true that slavery in America was legalized by a black man, and that a large portion of blacks owned slaves (maybe 1/3rd iirc, might have been less), and Africans sold enemy tribes into slavery, and Africans still practice slavery to this day, slavery in the South did not benefit the majority of black people, it also did not benefit blacks in the North since they had to fight and die in the war. The other way it did not benefit blacks in the North is it lowered the bar down, creating a culture where North blacks should accept their lot in life, because "at least they are not slaves". This is similar to how abysmal conditions in third world drags everybody down, because if a first world person complains about something, some people just say "at least you are not in the third world, stop complaining" and their problems are ignored.

So overall I think that saying that slavery taught blacks skills is disingenuous, slavery actually made it illegal for blacks to read books. Nowadays we have the opposite problem, schools force people to have mostly book smarts and 0 street smarts, when I was in school nobody taught me adult financial education or life skills. Although slavery obviously did not teach black people useful financial skills or life skills either.

Basically, if White Supremacists view Watto as subhuman for owning slaves, they should view 1800s white southerners as far, far more subhuman than that. Compared to slavery down south, that was freedom, down south there was no podracing no dignity or anything like that, they wouldn't be allowed to do any of that.

Slavery was (is) VERY beneficial*, though.

To the people who owned slaves and got the value from all the free labour. Many very wealthy powerful families in the USA would have never gotten their head start on wealth generation if it wasn’t for the free labour they stole from enslaved people.

The American genocide killed approximately 20x as many people as hitler killed Jews - and was nearly complete. It’s been ongoing since with residential schools and deeply ingrained systemic racism.

Canada is currently washing its image by partnering with Indigenous peoples to cut them in on land and resource exploitation deals so they stop fighting for their future descendants’ rights to clean air/land/water etc. it’s all just a BS smoke show to placate people as the government does what it wants.

Does anyone have any idea what the education will actually teach? I've seen this claim in several articles, but they never give any examples. Sounds like leftist propaganda to me.

The only headline I saw about it said they were teaching that slavery was beneficial because it gave people work skills. But that was some video clip headline, not an official document from florida schools.
