My anxiety knows exactly how to get me all worked up and worried about things. The professional doom-mongers, who seem to be very effective with other people, have no idea how to do that to me. They're trying to push buttons that aren't there.

"I might have to move sometime in the coming months" feels like a cataclysm to me.

"All life in the oceans will be dead by 2060 and it will be all your fault for existing, random human" does nothing for me.

I think people are right to be paranoid, though it's not really helping.
Kind of off topic, but it's also killing fiction.
Dystopias are all predictable without a hint of subtlety and action movies keep ending the world. And as much I like crappy sci-fi futures, don't you think we should be focusing on creating ways for that to, idk, not happen? Peace inspires creativity, and people do the best work when they're bored, not terrified.
