^ I think there are a lot of people would do the same, Sweetleaf. Being particular right-wing is not attractive to most women, these days.

Although I find having a mixture of views from left and right that adds up to 'centrist', seems more acceptable.

I think most people are probably more centrist than left or right anyways, I suppose if I was single I could still accept someone who supports abortion rights but doesn't hate capitalism as much as I do.

I wouldn’t date someone who wasn’t on the Left. My political views are too strong for a relationship with someone on the Right to work.

Hmm. Apparently this post was removed although the discussion is still accessible via the link. WP didn't notify me on this thread, so I had assumed this wasn't getting any attention. I think the link that was removed may have been this one:

https://www.indy100.com/showbiz/women-joe-rogan-red-flag

although there are many similar. What I find interesting about the Reddit discussion is the theme that Rogan primarily appeals to men with a "frat boy" mentality, so I would expect any woman who has had bad experiences with that sort of man should find Rogan repulsive.

BTW any American can probably tell you that smoking weed does not correlate with one's political beliefs, at least not any more.

Yes, you are correct, more people are centrist than those who are strictly 'left' or 'right', however useful those terms might be to appropriate a persons political views.

I think inevitably people will have at least small differences in political views, and so if someone is super left wing and somebody else is centrist, then tolerance of the other persons views seems possible.

Though probably not for a lot of people who veer too far either way of the centre, and who are at opposite ends of the political spectrum to one another.

True about the weed.Missouri legalized it and it’s a conservative state. They couldn’t keep up with the demand and even had a shortage at first.

Is that same target on Chris Williamson or Diary of a CEO listeners?

I think what appeals occasionally about Rogan is that he has a wide array of guests on all kinds of topics and occasionally I've been introduced to an academic or researcher on a particular topic that I hadn't been aware of and he does a good job of asking questions that showcase their strong points. Talking about comedy, IMHO, is a bit boring but he doesn't stick with that. It's the same appeal that Sam Harris's Waking Up / Making Sense has had - ie. several hour conversations with experts, writers, media personalities, etc..

The thing I question with this though - I can't tell whether the assumption is that no one can think for themselves and they'll be sucked in, transmuted, and turned into someone else by listening to a podcast or... if things are getting a bit controlling. If you need proxies who aren't themselves right wing, at worst somewhere between dissident Jimmy Dore left and center-left, it looks like overshoot. Maybe best to just figure out whether a guy is actually 'right wing' (that's a set of values - not a Youtube history unless he's an avid fan of Richard Spencer or someone similar), or perhaps settle for the second-best heuristic that any guy whose got a complex enough worldview that you can't put it on a bubblegum wrapper should be disqualified because if he's not a secret right-winger he still won't be easy to get under and control.
