I have started the process of the remix album!! !

First, I will send letters to the game developers asking for permission to remix their classic game music

Then, I will decide exactly what songs I would want to remix

After that it's just a matter of transposing the songs!

I want to get started on this project but I cannot figure out how to contact Nintendo of America without having to send them a handwritten letter!! !

I tried to write a message on their Facebook posts but I don't think NOA monitors their FB page or they automate their Facebook posts!

If I can find a general E-mail address for Nintendo of America that would be GREAT

I actually did send Nintendo a handwritten letter before and I will do it again if that's the only way I can contact them but I really don't want to if I don't have to...

I don't quite see what you mean by "transposing." Are you trying to transcribe from the original records to a synth-based music generator like MIDI or something?

No

I am referring to turning the original sound files into sheet music like converting them which will make the remixing process easier!

OK, so in what way are you hoping to alter the original records, and why does sheet music help? I've remixed a few things, but what I did never needed sheet music.

It's kinda hard to describe but I need to know the structure of each song I remix

Otherwise, how would I know how to remix it?

Without knowing the structure it's almost impossible to accomplish remixing songs, never mind creating an entire ALBUM!! !

Like trying to make a recipe without knowing the ingredients

The problem with the word remixing is that it can mean any kind of change that's made to a record. Do you have any examples of the remixing you've done uploaded anywhere? Do you start by getting separate "stems" of the individual instruments and vocals, or is it more to do with chopping bits out and rearranging the bits?

Yeah it's too vague of a term

I have some Super Nintendo game BGM that I remixed with a tool that lets you turn .SPC sound files into MIDI on my old computer I believe

I will try to upload them to WP!! !

The latter

(chopping & rearranging song components)

That'd be great, but I'm not sure that WP supports uploading of files. Even pictures seem to be all uploaded by users to other places and then they post links.

I've done that kind of remixing where I rearrange chunks of the record, but I just worked by ear. I'm not good at reading sheet music, though I can see how it'd be helpful to anybody who could. If you have a program that makes MIDI files out of records, there are programs that will create musical scores out of MIDI files.

I've been looking for a program that makes MIDI from audio for years, but I haven't found anything free that does it very well. I use Logic to turn MIDI into score. It's quite good but it's complicated to use.

Sounds good apart from having to buy it.

Let us know how it goes.
