If Americans deserve Trump

Me either. I agree 100%. In fact I was very angry about it the other day and I'm still angry.

It's almost enough to make me understand why the MAGAs want to make the US an isolationist country, and that alone sends shivers down my spine because I don't want to actually side with the Trump cult.

I'm not sure agreeing with them on a single point means you side with them beyond that.

It's not unreasonable to get sick with disinformed and bad faith takes on your society, especially when people express them as blanket statements and don't bother to recognize that a lot of people within that society are hostile to that society's worst features and traits.

Some people think that Palestine is currently getting what they deserve.

And see I don't, nor did the Jews deserve what happened to them during The Holocaust. And frankly neither did a lot of the Germans who were being killed by their own Nazi government trying to create a "pure" race which meant exterminating homosexuals and anyone disabled.


The world is just a screwed up place and it's so easy for some to put all the blame on entire groups of people instead of seeing the bigger picture. Just like when gay men were blamed for the AIDS pandemic in the 1980's or Muslims were being blamed for 9/11 everywhere you looked.

Nobody is helping things at all when they blame all Americans for Trump.

I just want to give up on the world sometimes because of all the turmoil going on today. What exactly is a powerless second class citizen with disabilities like me supposed to do when things really do get as bad as people say they're going to get? What if I find myself locked away in some kind of prison camp because Dicktraitor Trump and people around the world just shrug and say "Well Americans get the government they deserve"?

I'm scared for the future and it's like nobody gives a damn.

I think part of the problem is that a lot of people buy into the just-world fallacy, and that makes them assume that something must have been done wrong to explain the bad situation, and also that it was a personal failing so the finding out is deserved for the 'lack of responsibility'.

A lot of people do care although I didn't think so in the past. They don't make the news though. Most often things don't get as bad as people predict.

Catastrophizing isn't good, especially if it's keeping you from enjoying the present. Would distancing yourself from the news help? I have to do that very often.

You mean if I quit doomscrolling? I guess I'll try.

I did really good not to pay attention to the news while I was in Japan but the moment I came home I started searching the news again out if boredom.

I think I do need to stop paying so much attention to the news. It not only depresses me but it's like an addiction.

It's like that for a lot of people. It's like we get addicted to feeling anxious.
