Whether God is a myth, or Christianity is folklore shouldn't stop us from being able to debate the topic. To me, it's the ones that feel insecure about the whole concept of what they are believing that is what we are getting stuck into. Raggy might firmly believe what he is saying, but does he really feel secure? Same with Johnny et al. We may never find out who is right, and who is wrong, be we can at least debate it...

I get the impression some days that you can come here and have endless arguments about God, but the day you reach enlightenment (or whatever it is you are seeking) you won't come here anymore.

Underneath it all is fear (is that the same as insecurity?) and other very human feelings - the arguments aren't really about God and religion these are just surface ripples.

Can you connect to what lies below within yourself ?

To me the issue is about history, the crimes of man against God (God says to not do something so we instinctively do it anyway), necessity of sacrifice for the forgiveness of those crimes, and God sending His Son Jesus to be the last sacrifice for all people who accept Him. This is not about fear, it's about God's infinite Love in doing something we couldn't do for own benefit even though He didn't have to but chose to because He Loves everyone. The ones who believe in Him have no reason to fear because they are saved, and the ones who don't believe in Him are convinced there's no reason to be afraid, so the issue is not about fear but rather God's Love in Christ.

Not always.

Commandment number whatever:
Thou shalt not f**k thy neighbour's wife.

I have never done this.
And not just 'cause she's about 80.

Can you say you've never broke any? Read Matthew 5:28 and neighbor doesn't mean the person you live next door to, Biblically it means a fellow human.

I don't do anything I do because your god supposedly says not to.
