I don't live in the US. And I'll be glad when the Americans are slightly less smearing their politics in the whole world's face.

I did the early voting thing and did it on Thursday.

I haven't taken part in the thread poll because I presume it's only for people who are actually allowed to vote in the USA election? I'm not allowed because I'm only a humble Green Card holder, though I live here and have to suffer the result of the election, at least for most of the year. So it's not fair, from my perspective, and I don't quite know why they exclude people such as myself.

Mind you, I don't mind very much. I've not voted for decades in the UK where I would be allowed to, mainly because it's a first-past-the-post system and I live in a safe Labour constituency, so my vote would make no practical difference. I guess the practical difference I could make in the USA if I could vote would be similar, though miniscule rather than zero, as I gather there's some element of proportional representation. It remains to be seen whether I'd vote or not.

Fnord, as it's your thread, do you consider the discussion of why people vote / don't vote to be on topic? I personally find the perceived morality of voting an interesting thing. No worries if you don't want it talked about here.

I put my ballot in the box on Friday here in the land of firebombed ballot boxes. There were three election workers under an umbrella there that morning.

I voted early.
