wtf is a clacker.

Edit: Oooooh those things...they were fun, but they weren't very imaginative. I was more of a My Littlest Petshop and Independence Day action figures kind of gal.

I assume clackers would, in that sense, be used as motor/tactile and auditory stimulation.

Strangely enough, when I am stimming, I have difficulty thinking about other things-- especially if it is a gross motor stim like rocking or something which causes a fair amount of movement throughout the majority of my body. I was always used to little stims while I was deep in reverie. However, I believe most of the time (and even now) I became very still and usually looked out windows or found the most visually-open space I could in the room and escape into thought.

Larger movements make my brain feel as though it's being too jarred to think and isolated noise I find too distracting. A single clacker I would find annoying if trying to think.

Small stims, usually of the tactile nature, and lots of quiet seem most conducive to deep thought.

NeantHumain, you took it farther than I ever did. I never had a fantasy world of a any kind, It just merely helped me concentrate my thoughts and forget about the world. I seem to have quite the escapist personality. Hmm... I honestly aren't sure whether or not I had any kind of fantasy world; if I did, it was merely a warped version of the world I was currently living in. That's how my escapist thoughts are now.

I used to like playing with legos and some other plastic "bricks" that were like legos with pegs on them but made out of softer plastic. "Robots" were the main things I liked building, apart from towers and planes but I don't think they really stimulated the imagination. I just had to keep making the same things over and over but always knew they were just things made out of blocks.

I used to make armies of lego men and try and plan huge lego wars. I made ships and forts out of lego and loads of other things. I also loved Micro Machines and created huge bases and made vast stories and planned huge battles with them.

Those are the lame "80's clackers" 60's 70's clackers were like little billiard balls, about the same consistency and hardness, and they were on a cord with a ring in the center, the clack was tooth jarring and you could easly hurt yourself or others with them.

Oh I miss the era of dangerous FUN toys.

I just can't see getting a good jarring SNAP out of thse plastic things.

What were those things called that were like a frame with several metal balls suspended by strings... you pulled one back and let go, and the rest "clacked" in patterns... I thought they were called clackers... I could play with one fo those things for hours....

My parents were very strict, so my access to noise-making toys was quite limited. I did get to play with them in preschool, though.

I recall seeing one of them, though it had a wooden cup instead of a basket. It was called a Cup And Ball, or Ball and Cup, or some variation on that...

Remember snap braclets? I remember when they were in vouge circa 1990. They were metal strip with a bit of a bend in them, and when you cracked them across your wrist, they would wrap around.

The early ones the metal strip was covered with a cotton sheath, once those wore out around the edges, it was quite easy to slice open your wrist if you brought it down the wrong way.

I remember a story on TV, a kid in green bay got electrocuted when his braclet came in contact with an outlet.

Scoots, they still have those today. I don't know how they work now though.

I liked clackers to! They're so cool I had a pink, blue and pruple one, They r fun becuz they make noise and swing!

I prefer toy guns.... and BB guns.

Clackers might be okay but I don't like clickers very much and it really drives me nuts when (like one woman I work with does) a person walks around clicking their fingers. I have to restrain myself from saying something about it.
