I don't think nature created gay people as a form of population control. Gay people have characteristics that benefit the population. Many gay people make a good caring leader type. Jobs like Bishops are ideal for gay people. In most forms of Christianity, a Bishop or religious leader is expected to remain celibate.

Chav, your making the assumption that gay people can dispell their sex drive easier than straight people, I do not believe this to be true. I am a heterosexual, but, I have had plenty of gay and bi friends and relatives. Homosexuality is a genetic condition, kinda like autism in a way, it's something we're born with or without. A "mutation", but I wouldn't call it a mutation, I'd call things like this differences. Even with bi's, some haters might say "if they can go both ways, why don't they choose to be straight?", well, people can not choose who they fall in love with. Those are forces beyond our biological being to choose.
What I am more curious about is if suppression of the sex drive can make heterosexual men gay. I mean look in prisons, where men have no access to women, and eventually the big sharks make the little ones their b*****s, out of desperation (though their ego might not allow them to admit desperation plays a part, but I can assure you many of these "thugs" coming from such anti-gay cultures (this going for whites as well as ethnics, I'm not making a statement about race)......

So... if anything i think youve got it the wrong way round - homophobia in society, rather than being a product of natural selection should be considered more of an expression of an evolutionary remnant (like the appendix or third eyelid) or non-evolutionary abberation, that is set to disapeer if we continue to evolve along the same path, away from our 'primitive' roots.

So you do admit that homophobia did have an evolutionary advantage to society in past. Now I think about it you are probably right.

Not exactly, im sugesting that the species has made a transition from a simple state, possessing the basic r-complex (reptilian) to the more advanced state of having a more complex brain integrating both r-complex and mammalian areas.

As a result of being like this, we have a situation where at any given time, some people will be expressing the wider range of mammalian traits and emotions (affection, charity, creative thinking etc), whereas some will be thinking in a different 'colder' way in which r-complex traits and emotional coldness are more pronounced (perhaps more so in times of stress when the survival instinct kicks in)

Homophobia neednt be directly relevant to anything ive just said, what im attempting to do is propose a theory for the xenophobia that causes people to be intolerant towards those that are different, or behave in a different to normal way. homophobia is just one way in which xenophobia is expressed.

You could maybe argue that xenophobia is an evolutionary advantage to a purely hive/colony social structure (that you get with 'lower' species) - individuals that deviate from the algorithm, or do not obey the hierarchy will damage the overall productivity of the hive/colony.

I'm sorry, I don't get why people are so against homosexuality. Do you really think that just because some people are openly homosexual that everyone else is so weak-willed that we'll all become gay? I know gay people exist. Guess what? I'm not gay. And I don't get why so many people argue "why" people are homosexual, if its a choice or its genetic. Why does that matter? You either are or aren't(not counting Bisexual). And that choice only affects you and your partner.

And even if you disagree with homosexuality based on religious beliefs... once again, its their choice, HOW does it affect you? The ONLY reason I've heard said is because their kids might choose to be homosexual... which just goes back to my first point. And even if thats the case... it shouldn't matter the parents so long as the child is happier living as a homosexual.

I agree, it shouldn't matter, however, I believe it is always important to know this, as evidence exist about the failed attempts about "curing" gays, at least some christians might get a better understanding and acceptance, hopefully, and not going fundamentalists about takng the Bible too literal without the existence of any human error, even inside the belief that it is inspired by God, about sexuality in the Bible.

Also, the issues about acceptance of gays, bisexuals and transgenders as equals is a lot better when based on secular scientific studies rather than religious dogma, there is really no harm on this, other than contradicting some religious beliefs, nothing more than that.

Jobs like Bishops are ideal for gay people. In most forms of Christianity, a Bishop or religious leader is expected to remain celibate. The problem with Heterosexual Bishops is as soon as the starts a family, is his time and love he has for his family compromises that of the people in his community, some bishops might be highly tempted to steal from church to support his family.

With a homosexual person there is little risk that he will start up a family and there is less evidence of fornication because the act of homosexuality cannot produce illegitimate children and give a bad example to the church.

This explain why there are so many gay bishops in the . It might also explain why gay hate is more rife then it should be. Any public acceptance of fornication by a leader ,such as a bishop, would give a bad example.

that's what surprised me about the priesthood, the large number of gay people who're in it. priesthood is an organization built on subverting your basic human desires, including sex. so it seems to me a lot of people get into the priesthood nowadays hoping to get rid of what they consider their "impure desires". considering all the Catholic priests that have been charged with pedophilia though this doesn't seem the best way to deal with what's going on inside you.

Heh, if only you knew....... How many of the elites at the very tip top of the pyramid HATE women, and are in fact gay and then to top it off, set up a system where gays are victimized, but within any given conflict the elites fuel all parties for their own selfish benefit, they manipulate all parties within a conflict..... Of coarse many zionists helped fund the concentration camps in WW2 as well..... WW1 lead to WW2, which lead to 1. the creation of Israel, and 2. the creation of the UN, the front organization for the global elites to push their agenda further. Hell, America's forefathers were masons, they did not even intend for the US to remain free, they merely needed a nation with a reputation free of abuse of it's mainline citizens with which to police the world, it's all part of the agenda.
One thing about psychopaths (and they are psychopaths who run this matrix) is that they do not have compassion, or empathy. Killing thousands of innocent people just to gain a little more power is fine by them..... They'll even turn on their own if they find a selfish benefit in doing so.

[quote="johnpipe108"]People are insecure with their own sexuality, and the fact that all normal humans have latent homosexual tendencies, which they feel, but are in contradiction about. We have these feelings of attraction deep down, it's part of what makes us sociable. It's part of why men have "Good Buddy's", but the "red-neck" doesn't understand these things, and cannot, therefore, consciously acknowledge them.[quote]

if a person thinks that male to male relationships are latent homosexuality he isactually betraying the fact that he has never had a real friend. In actuality, there is nothing more opposite from homosexuality than a deep friendship---just because someone is close to another does not mean it has anything to do with copulation. I love my niece and my sister--well gosh, I better start having a sexual relationship with them....no, that makes no more sense than sticking my organs up a mans organs designed for excretion---or letting his up mine (forgive me for being graphic, it's just sort of inherent in any discussion relating to the nature of copulation)

You are correct, biologically speaking gay people are non-viable, they are anti-thetical to procreation and survival of the species.

that's a question for the ages though.

...if homosexuals don't reproduce, how come there are so many them...?

Au contraire. Being gay is not evolutionary viable. Being categorically anti gay, however, can be counterproductive as well. Suppose I live in a polygamous society. If one guy is gay, then that frees up one woman. Either I can therefore get more women and have more offspring, or my status as a potential mate is therefore raised because either I am in higher demand or am moved up one position because of his status vacuum. Consequently, encouraging his homosexuality is in my interest

Now, if he were my son, it would be a completely different story.

Why? Because you would worry for him?

Evolutionarily, if my son were gay and did not reproduce, my genes would hit a dead end. Consequently, a non reproductive homosexual son is evolutionarily disadvantageous. Of course, that is a far cry from society-wide homophobia.

Please read my arguments charitably, I am very tired and just picked out enough holes in the structure of my original argument that it looks like someone blasted a shotgun through it. ;)

I think homophobia and other types of hatred are about wanting to maintain control. Humans seem to have this insatiable need to control their surroundings in order to obtain power or an illusion of safety. Unfortunately, to control everything in their environment, they also have to control other people. It's a heck of a lot harder to control sentient beings than plants or animals. So it takes either threatening others with social or physical annihilation to accomplish this.

The laws, at least in Western nations prohibit physically harming others for not wielding to social norms so what do we have left....socially harming people by using religion, politics and the like to justify shunning them for not doing what we want them to do. After all, what is more scary than someone or something we can't control?

That's why society hates people with mental illnesses, high IQs (look at whom we have in office? ), gays, feminists, and other non-conforming people. They're just evidence that as big and bad as we humans are about coming up with all these technological advances to conquer the world, we can never have control over everything.

Ergo, one day your great-great-great-great grandson will one day become king of planet Earth. I mean, is that why reproducing is important? That your genetic code, which is better suited than anyone else's in existance can maintain the destruction of the planet. I find this incredibly hollow, breeders.

This is what is important. Instill within your kinsmen honor, so that your honor will exude within your kinsmen.

In some sense, I think the act of conversation itself can be an intimate thing. But I learned there are certain things you don't talk about, or you will quickly be punished, maybe even killed for saying them. (in fact this is how I got diagnosed in the first place by my then psychiatrist, honestly though, I think he just wanted an excuse not to see me anymore) Freudian psychology, is the state religion, and also a sacred cow of their culture. I still remember, those little sexual “games” that we played as little girls (or older girls even) Unfortunately, it is also a good way to collect STD's (and there is a lot of stuff that can be transmitted sexually, even in a monogamous marriage you are not safe from it.) But it is true you can have close friends that you don't feel any sexual attraction to at all, in some sense, they might be closer friends, because it is easier to respect the boundaries of another when there is no lust going on there.

>>>>You are correct, biologically speaking gay people are non-viable, they are anti-thetical to procreation and survival of the species.

We have too much emphasis on “humans” at the expense of everything else. Humans packed floor to ceiling! Is that what we want, to be housed floor to ceiling like animals in factory farms! No, the sheer horror of the prospect overtakes me. This absurd worship of scientific theory has got to stop, its like religious dogma worship, except with even less basis in anything spiritual.

Well certainly it does not reflect my opinions with respect to child raising, but I was dealing with the Darwinistic implications of the situation. Thus, it is only relevant to ask to what degree the beliefs may or may not have benefited the people who held them. Any valuation based on this description is superfluous, as the fact of utility is, as a matter of strong principle to me, not related to the just.
