In the Future a new Prophet or great Teacher?

Prophecy is vastly overrated. A good prophet is someone who can tell me how to act no matter what else is happening. He is a great teacher. Lao Tzu (if such a person existed), the Buddha, and Jesus were great teachers. In my opinion, Lao Tzu (if he existed) was the first and also the best of the three. Take Taoism. Mahayana Buddhism, the works of mercy, and the sermon on the mount, put them together, and what else do I really need to know about living with myself and other people? Yes, there will be other great teachers (like the Dahlai Lama and Mother Teresa) but they will simply clarify the old teaching for new generations, different cultures. and different situations.

It will probably be some extraterrestrial intelligent life-form. If I were such a creature, then my purpose would be to exterminate the human race.

However, if in the slim chance that such a creature felt we were worth saving, then they would probably give us some great knowledge to do so. Or perhaps a revolutionary new technology to improve our lives.

I doubt any sort of "prophet" is coming though.

How so?

There are already many great teachers and exciting events. I don't think we need to wait for some "prophecy" to appreciate them.
