I don't care, this is just overly-philosophical psycho-babble. People are just taking this crap too damn far. If I see it, I hear it, I smell it, I feel it, it's there. You can't deny empirical evidence. It's stupid.
"Oh, how do I know my hand is in front of my face?" "How do I know it isn't an illusion?" It's f*****g ret*d. We're given the power of observation FOR A REASON.

Like i said, you could pretend that "in your reality, there is no train", and stay on the track and get ran over, or you can say "in reality, there is a train coming", get off the track and live to see another day. But the train doesn't cease to exist just because in your make believe reality, you don't wish it to be there. So there is a price to pay for being a delusional idiot. The train is coming down the track, rather you choose to believe it or not. Your options are either pretend it's not there and get flattened, or get the hell off the track and live to run another day. But the train isn't just gonna "disappear" because "in your reality it doesn't exist".

Even **if**... ** If ** our reality isn't reality on some unearthly, god-like realm of existence that is far beyond our comprehension, then that "higher" realm of existence doesn't effect us here. We are mere human beings. Our "lower" level of reality is more real for us.

People grab at this s**t as a straw man to support their ignorance. If nothing counts as knowledge, nobody or nothing can ever be wrong. The priests who molests children can't be wrong, because there exists nothing to determine what's correct or incorrect. "Nothing is real". This entire New Age psycho-babble philosophy is highly dangerous, and orwellian in nature. People just use it as a straw man to support ignorance and group think, so they can pretend that their conceptual flaws in their so-called "logic" don't exist.

There is only one external reality, you can have your personal perspectives on it, but there is only one reality. If your running on a train track, and you hear a train coming. You've got 2 choices. you can either:
1. Pretend you don't hear the train because "in your reality this train isn't there" and possibly because you think it's "negative" to ever think you'd be hit by a train, and you end up getting flattened.
2. Or, you could get off the track and live to run another day.

Either way, your dealing with 1 ultimate reality. The train is there rather you wanna believe it is or not, it's there, it's sounding it's airhorn. The rumbling down the tracks. Reality is not chosen, it's given. It doesn't ever take sides in human affairs either. Be it between 2 people or two groups of people. There's always 3 sides to a story. Your story, the their story, and the truth. You may have different takes on reality, but your all dealing with one reality.
I'm not much for all this modernism/post modernism/ existentialism/deconstructionism new age insanity... It's just psychotically over-philosophical junk "how do I know my hand is really in front of my face durh!").

this is a thread for people to express their versions of reality. You can have your opinion, but do not tell the people that don't agree with you that they are psychotic. The views you have are as true as anybody elses.

I'm not telling anyone they can't have their opinion, I'm just telling them theyr f*****g looney tunes.

The views you have are as true as anybody else?

well, really? lets examine that statement shall we? What does "true" mean? dictionary.com spouts: "conforming to reality"

so who's reality is each truth coming from? Or are you merely trying to obliterate the meaning of "true" and in the process trying to obliterate reality?

-----
So what you are saying in essence is either:
* The law of identity is invalid... in which case all these different 'versions' of reality are also invalid.

AND/OR

*That reality doesn't exist itself and there exists just some flux which can be whatever one wishes it to be (different versions). In which case there is no true for you to talk about an attribute to each 'different' reality.

AND/OR

*That there ARE different realities, in which case this thread is inherently meaningless because all this exists in your reality and I am reading a completely different thread because that is what exists in my reality.

-----
So while your goal is the obliteration of reality... I hope my post is enough to save at least some people from believing in yours.

btw... nice post snake... I concur.

I'm glad to see someone is still sane, not grasping at straws to avoid common since conjectures of any critical analysis. Izaac, at least you and I are among the sane here.

Ok then delusional one, then by all means, go stand in front of a moving train, tell yourself "this train isn't real", wait for it to disappear. Let me know what happens (although you can't because you won't be alive to tell me).

what if I make it real

a fact is jsut an agreed upon reality, I believe there concepts people can agree upon making sense, but there is no actual truth.

stuff exists, and something's happening with it. unless it doesn't, and it isn't, but it doesn't really matter either way.

If a fact is just an agreed upon reality, and there is no actual truth, then facts may or may not be agreed upon realities and truth may or may not exist. The reason I say that, is because the statements you made were truth related statements, and can be judged as true or untrue. To say that there is no actual truth, is just illogical and leads to paradox.

Apparently so, given that we have believers in an objective reality attacking the belief of subjective reality... which I find sort of funny given that reality pretty much by definition refers to something objective.

Reality always wins in the end... it's called justice.

I still don't like it that all these drop kicks waxing philosophical can utter such absolute nonsense in an intellectual sounding way and think they can get away with it. It's downright sickening.

I have no sympathy for someone who is so far gone that they can state they don't believe in reality in plain terms and still live with themselves. Quite frankly they deserve to think that way if they do. But for the minds out there that simply don't know any better because they have never thought about it before... they're the ones that need to see an argument for rational objective reality and philosophy in general.

Objective reality, things like the heat of the sun and the one's inability to breathe while drowning, the coarseness of burlap, the brightness of a candle-flame, the feel of grass under one's bare feet ... these cannot be denied. If one chooses, however, he can employ intelligence and perverse logic to produce all sort of argument & debate. Mainly for the purposes of entertainment, but sometimes for sinister designs.

Subjective reality is opinion, and constitutes one's inner universe. And then there are the layers of reality which we do not understand. The Ultimate Reality of God can never be fully grasped by human beings. Through a glass darkly, yes indeed!

It's the question that drives us.
