Well, the choices should then be MALE, FEMALE, or NEUTERED... :P

You really don't mind who you offend, as long as no one ruffles your feathers, do you?

Then the 'Neutered' option you laughingly suggest would include women who have had hysterectomies, men who have orchiectomies because of testicular cancer, etc.

Should I stick a laughing smiley there iamnotaparakeet?

For most scholars who deal with gender and sexuality, gender is not considered to be a biological construction, but a cultural one. The dictionary, sadly, is not always the best source for information on concepts beyond very superficial meanings.

Gender is based partly on culture and partly on individual identification whereas sex is generally based on chromosomal differences (e.g. XY or XX); it's why intersexed individuals aren't considered to be transgendered, for example. Keep in mind that sex determination can sometimes be based on other factors like hormonal expression alongside the chromosomes. It's pretty complex in some cases.

Not to mention that intersex individuals can be chimeric, with both xx and xy expression within the same person.
There are xx males, xy females, xxy males, xyy females, and it goes on and on. Sexuality is complex, and gender - as the individual perceives itself, as well as how society perceives that individual - is equally complex.

You cannot read within context. Try again.

With posts like that, no wonder you are having troubles here.

I think I need you to explain your last reply more.

If I read it correct, then you think I am wrong in the way I use your term 'neutered'?

To me, your use of that term in a previous post was to mean a person who has had their physical sex altered.
Your smiley seemed to indicate you thought your comment was funny or perhaps sarcastic?

It's not that I cannot read within context... it's that I might not understand your intentions or definitions without further explanation from you.
Nothing wrong in that, that I can see.

Greenblue tried arguing from a linguistic point of view. In most languages, such as English (for pronouns) and Latin (for nouns, pronouns, and adjectives), there are genders. Most commonly there are masculine and feminine, but in some there is a third called "neuter". Hence my reply.

Some people annoy me with their intolerance of my views and disrespect. Not only that, but they intentionally misconstrue anything I say to mean the worse things possible and they give vicious venomous attacks. This annoys me. If say anything in kind, then I get blamed? That's stupid.

Neutered wouldn't be a satisfactory option in this case.

Some sort of option that read 'Other/Unspecified' would probably suffice.

I wasn't suggesting "neutered" as a real option, I was just replying to Greenblue.

There are rarely some born with multiple parts, but generally there are two main sexes.

Now, if someones wishes to state their "orientation" that is one thing, but then could we also state what religion we practice and what the last grade level completed was and what our IQs are?

We're talking gender here... not birth sex and not sexual orientation... there is a difference.

If it does not pertain to you, why jump in here with a post like that?

Isn't that what WrongPlanet is all about?
How many times have people jumped into threads expressly aimed at Christians only?
Answer: Every time. Every single time, without exception.

So don't give me this rules-and-principles jargon, because it doesn't exist.
All of WrongPlanet is open to every member -- are you unaware of this?
Even the Women's Discussion section is open to men!

I don't understand what this tread has got to do with Christianity. Does Christianity deny the existence of transex individuals?

i don't think the bible mentions it although I may be wrong. Anyway, the database only has options for male or female at the moment. For the time being you can make a note in your signature that you're transex. Hopefully that option will be available for real within the next month.

Or in your custom rank, should you want to and you have one.

The Bible has this thing against homosexuals. I think it's in Leviticus. From there, it moves on to transexuals. They reckon that people should stay in the sex God gave them, no matter what. Which is rich coming from a religion that puts its priests in dresses for ceremonies.
