One was excluded for being a racist. Another was excluded for being a pedophile. I opposed that decision but was overruled. Nothing in the world is as black & white as aspies would like it to be. Moderators' jobs would be much easier with a black & white interpretation of the rules.

Who revived this thread? It brings back unhappy memories.

It's Alex's site. They're his rules. I think he participates on forums frequented by people who own and operate forums. It's not like we're makin' this stuff up as we go along. Well, mostly. We actually have a pretty good idea what we're doing, mostly.

Ah, just more people questioning the wisdom of the people who make this free service possible, I think. Maybe we should stop offering this free service, or stop offering it for free. Whaddaya'll think? Or maybe we should stop tryin' so hard, let the trolls and bigots overrun the place and shout down the meek and the timid? Whaddaya'll think?

No one's ever started a moderator appreciation thread. I don't know why any o' ya'll think you want this job. I get so tired of havin' to set a better example. There are a few o' you I'd just love to tear a new one.

This is all stuff that's been discussed before, with pretty much the same people. They just can't let it go. Who can blame them? They're aspies. We tolerate a lot of stuff here that would never be tolerated on other forums, because we're aspies too. We understand.

I tell my NT co-workers in my RL job that this job is like herding cats. I have to tell everybody everything twice, (well, some days.) It seems like everybody here is ready to challenge authority. It's okay. We understand. We're aspies too. Ya'll are very lucky that there are people in the world, like Alex for example, who are trying to do something for us.

I'd like to suggest that you give a little thought to what you might be able to do to help the next generation of aspies. Some of you are very, very talented.

I'd like to say that in my opinion in the vast majority of cases that the mods do a great job. :)

This first characteristic of the moderators around here seems to be a healthy dose of wisdom. And I would rather be scolded by a wise man than receive praise from a fool.

Dang, MrMark, you just derailed my conglomeration, thinkin' about all those little kid aspies running around, and what's likely to be in store for them.

I'm getting pretty good with a log splitting maul. Maybe that'll help.

From time to time Alex or another moderator are offended by something. I always ask, "Which rules do you feel is being violated?" When Alex was offended by people supporting the murder of a bully with things like "He deserved it," I told him I felt it would be inappropriate to act. The membership eventually resolved the situation.

Well, Thats freedom of speech. They have the right to say what they feel. they aren't hurting anyway. it would ahve been unfair to act,

Yes, but, the issue is when to draw the line when something like this could be considered hate speech or in this case crime speech? I mean, there were two incidents here from two former members of WP, it would be understandable if Alex would be concerned about it.
