2013 or 2017. Obama will leave office in January of the year following the election. Besides, isn't Obama the start of the 1000 year kindom of God on Earth?

Highly unlikely, Obama doesn't strike me has God's representative, he's not a bad person by any means but I don't think he's that holy.

Anyways, as I said before. I am reserving judgment for the time being. While I am a logical person by nature I accept that things exist beyond our understanding.

People have been saying "the end of time is coming" since the beginning of time. I really doubt the world is ending 2012.

I don't think it will be the end of the world, but I do think that either:

A. A massive war will break out.
B. there will be a massive spiritual awakening.
or
C. both A and B

I think it's based on ancient calendars ending in 2012. I don't necessarily interpret it as the end of the world but rather the end of days... the end of time and the ability to change things. It is a return to the eternal where things cannot be changed, here in this world of time and space we can change things. Essentially I see the risk of not finishing whatever we're working on before we run out of time. By work I mean the esoteric work of the human race both collectively and individually.

On the surface it looks like 7 billion headless chickens in chaotic conflict, this is all smoke and mirrors to "hide" the real work we're up to which is what makes it "esoteric". The human race is attempting to resurrect itself, Novus Ordo Seclorum - "The Mighty Order of the Ages is Born Anew". This is not the NWO of conspiracy theorists but the greatest achievement a soul can hope to attain both individually and as a whole.

There is a conspiracy in the fact that there is something hidden going on behind the mask of our everyday lives, it's just not sinister as they make it out to be. It's just us, all of us, working towards the greatest achievement of all time.

Well another thing is the appearance of the 3 anti christ, we have already had 2 and who knows the 3rd might appear soon, btw he is supposed to embody ignorance. Check google and you get a lot of theories of the 3rd and supposidly after it comes something big will happen. The idea of a massive spiritual awakening is an idea for a book series I have been thinking of, sometimes I like to think that my ideas are in fact prophecies. So if a minority of human kind seperate into vampires, angels and werewolves then I am a prophet. One of my thoughts is that we suddnly see upon another plane or we discover another energy type, I am hopeing it will alow us to reverse the damage that has been done. If you look the world has had a huge increase in natural disasters and the like, who knows if maybe they will elevate over the next 3-4 years.

Who knows, I think the most likely scenario would be a mass spiritual awakening of sorts. Hopefully.

Either way, the idea of 2012 came from the Mayan calendar, which was falsely interpreted to mean the end of the world as it ends then. Not true - they simply said that mankind will no longer need the calendar beyond that point for guidance. There's nothing about any world ending, cataclysm, disaster or whatever else.

Actually, the world may end around 2020 if we don't make techonology the can destroy... ASTEROIDS.

An Asteroid/Meteor is said to either bypass or crash by then.

Put the nucs to use by firing missiles at them to diviate them or smash them into little bits of dust.

Yea, I am under the impression that December 21st 2012 was simply the start of a new era, which could simply mean that a major scientific discovery will be made. If I had to guess the only specific possibility I see now is a supercomputer with the capability of improving it's own design. Of course I am still reserving judgment, even if this does happen in 2012 it doesn't mean the Mayans actually predicted it, for any major even taking place on or around December 21st 2012 will be considered by some to be a fulfillment of the prophecy.

Nostradamus is irrelevant in any real sense. Most of his predictions don't have dates attached and are so incredibly obscure that they are useless for predicting anything. His best "predictions" can be explained by him being an intelligent and well educated and may have been able to estimate the future a bit better then most people would have during that time period.

Go look up what Wiki claims about the Mayan calendar. What I gather is that the Mayans perceived time as a circle, a very common idea among all humans. Their circle was divided into 12 slices, like the Greek Zodiac. (Chinese astrology also operates on a 12 year cycle.) Each slice represented a cycle, and when humanity went through all 12, it was a Great Cycle. Quite simply, after a Great Cycle ended, a new one would begin. The Mayans didn't have a concept quite like the Christian End Of Days, but they did think that after each cycle there would be shifts in the environment and human mind.

We really don't know what the Mayans of 800 AD thought about the end of their calendar, since Mayan books were mostly burned by the conquistadors, and Mayans lost the ability to read their writing soon after the conquest of Mexico, AND Mayan beliefs have been contaminated by five centuries of interaction with Christianity. We can read about half of the Mayan alphabet. Of course, the Mayan civilization ended long before their calendar did.

The 2012 myth has roots in the Harmonic Convergence of 1987. If anybody is old enough to remember, a special planetary alignment occurred in 1987, and rumors were flying that the world would end. New Age groups across America got together to send out positive vibes to ensure humanity's survival. It must have worked, since the poles didn't shift. Anyway, the failure of the Harmonic Convergence to bring about the Age of Aquarius started a search for the next likely date. Somebody noted that the Mayan calendar would come to a conclusion on a date rendered as December 21, 2012 in Christian reckoning, and everybody was off again. I suppose that when 12/21/2012 fails to bring about the emergence of the Fourth Dimension, they'll find something else.

No, not another doomsday message :D How many times have we heard this warning that the world is about to end? The Jehovah Witnesses have had plenty such warnings, then it was the millennium which would match with the doomsday, ... How many more such stuff before people will realise the world is not coming to an end?? I find it quite a miracle some people believe this stuff.
