I have always been envious of people who are able to define themselves. I always notice whenever I make 'I am' statements. It seems funny for me to say such things because I really do not know what I am.

I don't care, and I am an indifferent.

How 'bout "Asper"?

ASP sounds good

Anyway, yeah AS is a pretty small part of my identity; at least that's how I see it. It's a strong influence, to be sure, but I would define myself through my beliefs (or lack of beliefs) and academic goals first.

You guys are really inserting meaning where it's just idiom. In German, one says, "Ich habe Hunger," (I have hunger), but in English, idiom is to say, "I am hungry" ("Ich bin hungrig").

On the contrary, the OP is using the English idiom to say that his mental condition doesn't define him, at least not entirely or even largely

I am an Aspie but I am also a:

Intellectual
Nerd
Caucasian
Redhead
Lefty (as in left-handed)
Moderate
Christian

Not one of the above defines my whole person, but I am still all of these things. It's really just how the English language works.

I suppose I do get the feeling sometimes that I'm not aspie. I dunno if it's being a little more "ahead of the curve" when it comes to social practice or if it's just a feeling I get when I'm around my AS friends (not to say that all of them are, about 1 at least diagnoised with it). I suppose it might be the extrovert in me. Anyway yeah I do feel that way a lot.

Most "intellectuals" know that the appropriate article adjective preceding the word is "an", not "a".

However, I am six feet tall. Nobody has six feet tall. There have been discussions about this before but, basically, the semantic difference between saying you 'have AS' and saying you 'are an Aspie' is actually quite small. It's like the distinction between having brown hair and being a brunette. :P

I have a height, that height does not have me.
