Did Palin lie about her son/grandson?
OK, so I suppose they are going for family values after all... hillbilly style.
they're going strong after the midwest vote.
They already had the midwest... you think midwesterners are voting for a black man? Seriously, I grew up around a fairly racist area. Running a black man will hurt the Democrats in parts of the Midwest.
As an aside, though, my GRANDPARENTS are voting for Obama.
This does not look like a good year to be a Republican.

wow. are they both stuck in the more midwest/racist mentality? are they like "that young negro baraka obama sure speaks good!" ?
sorry, kind of a curiosity. morbid, i'm not sure...but most of my interests do end up being morbid to some extent....

They're actually from Pennsylvania, not quite the Midwest. But it's the far western fringe of Pennsylvania, just about in Ohio. I don't recall ever hearing them say anything racist, but at their age I wouldn't really expect them to be up-to-date on the politically correct way of referring to black people, so I wouldn't be terribly surprised to hear them say "negro." They were farmers back in the day, had a large family (seven kids) had their own shotgun wedding, and were old-school Presbyterians. And I mean old-school, Prohibition Presbyterians. I had family members who were still active in the temperance movement up into the 1970s, refusing to give up on that lost cause. So in many ways they were the archetypal old conservatives. But now they hate McCain and Palin.

yeah...i picked negro because that more shows a slightly removed perspective from the modern world and not necessarily hateful racist so much as just clueless.
and that's pretty impressive that prohibitionists aren't voting mccain/palin.
......and no one finds this odd at all just how much obama has been coronated every which way through the media to where everyone think he's gonna be something worth while?
sorry, ever the cynic i think the whole thing reeks.

because 8 years of white trash in the oval office is more than enough.
having legit backwoods trash in office in any capacity would be horrible.

it is an issue because the lady backs and preachs the Republican party meme of "teach only abstinence" and eschew any type of sexual education of contraceptives or STD information because that will only "put ideas in their heads."
children being pregnant is the result of such 'abstinence only" policies.
this is why people see it as an issue. They feel the policy is faulty.

Ahhh ok, gotcha. I thought it was people getting upset over a teenager being pregnant and that alone. In which I'd say who cares, that happens all the time. But yes, it is a result of abstinance-only, which is flawed and faulty.

Agreed.
It's also an issue because if it were true, it would mean that she had abused her power as Governor to falsify official documents (hospital records, birth certificate, etc.), and had the poor judgment to put her family, and most specifically, her daughter, through public scrutiny despite knowing that something this difficult was likely to come out.

there's other studies with a larger sample-size. it doesn't work.

too late, it is already out.
Palin stands accused of having fired Alaska’s public-safety commissioner because he would not dismiss her sister’s ex-husband, a state trooper, who the Palins have been feuding with since before she became governor. Though a full report from an independent investigator is due this fall, emails from Palin and a tape recording reveal that the governor at least pressured the commissioner to fire her ex-brother-in-law, after she previously denied having done so.
Palin has conceded that she was justified in pushing for the dismissal of her former brother-in-law, though she maintains it had nothing to do with her decision to replace the safety commissioner. She has spoken about her willingness to cooperate in the investigation repeatedly on national TV.

Of course. But attaching so much significance to a single individual is silly.
