Religion is the true nature of NTs. Science is the true nature of aspies.

I'd disagree, from what I can see it really doesn't matter whether you're an aspie or not. Although I would say religion is the true nature of ignorant people.

This is true. Not all NTs are ignorant, just some of them...and it's always the vocal, extraverted ones, no?

I think what happens with a lot of aspies here is they get the intellectual side of religion, the dogma, the ritual, going through the motions, but not the spiritual side, and when they do they find it frightening. Now, I don't think this is the case for all aspies, but it took me a long time to understand religious ritual, and how it really worked for me (or in my case, really didn't work most of my life because I was practicing the wrong things)
If you are really having trouble with this, you might try what is called a mystery school or an initiatory religion. They have different ceremonies, but sometimes they have such difficult results, because you are like OMG this ritual is making me depressed, but once you understand how it works, you can use ritual to feel better again. It can very much be a school of hard knocks though and really mess with your mood.

Wrong!

I do not find the "Spiritual" side of religion frightening, as there is no "Spiritual" side to Religion. A person who practices Religion without also practicing a related "Spiritual" aspect (e.g., without having "Faith") is called a Religionist or Pharisee.

Religion is merely the socio-political expression of Faith, which itself is the irrational belief in improvable and immaterial concepts. Faith and Religion are thus two different - albeit related - things.

85% of the worlds population are religious and not all religious practices are negative.
If the majority of the worlds population are was aspie, that rate would not be even 15%, as most religious aspies were influenced by NTs

I think we may need to define these words a bit better. This is how I define these words...

Church... A book club

Religion... Some idiot's guide to a book club

Spirituality... Belief in God without having to be a member of a book club

Science, art, math, and all that jive...well looking at the world that way is a personality thing as opposed to an aspie thing.
You got intuition versus sensing and thinking versus feeling to define if you are going to be a little more analytical or scientific in your approach to things, including unknown things like God, creation, death, etc.

Now the part of personality that deals with people more than concept would be the introvert versus the extrovert, and the judging versus the perceiving. But extrovert and introvert often get misdefined. Extroverts are not exactly social butterflies as much as they prefer to deal with things around other people and gain their strength from other people while introverts are more apt to find their inner strength. I do think Aspies can be extroverted, but had to somehow manage to find their introverted self as a result of the fabulous social skills winning people over.

Anyway, I do think in general, Aspies are not all that comfortable in a church setting in the sense of the social aspects of a church, which most Christian churches place a high emphasis on their community. Many aspies do seem to go to church and find happiness there, but the ones I know say they just keep to themselves. I also think when a church is stupid enough to reject an Aspie for their differences, God gets easily blamed for it, hence more athiest type thinking. I do think there are Aspies out there who use their scientific reasoning and gather more from their sensing and thinking side of the personality who are genuinely athiest, but they would probably be that way whether they were Aspie or not.

To those I say, Thank God for church because if the Bible didn't say "Thou shalt not kill," I mean, do you really think the world wouldn't kill without the fear of hell? Hence why I believe in God... morality is just not something people seem to come up with on their own. Either way, whether God exists or not, for some reason, I think the world needs Him.

Animals are a product of evolution and so are human and their belief( survival) system. Religion is a product of evolution, it is in many ways no different then any other survival system, hold by man or beast.

The art of deception is a survival skill. The belief that deception may send you to hell is a religious belief. So either it is a product of evolution to survive the afterlife, or we are the opposite of evolving.

Well you completely overlook the possibility that religion has "evolved" (not necessarily in the biological sense) to promote social cohesion by discouraging such behavior.

Not that "the opposite of evolving" makes one lick of sense.

I didn't over look it. Religion in my definition is an idiots guide to a book club. It's more about the people than about their God. Spirituality is a God and you thing, and God is God, irregardless of our religious beliefs. So, as people or civilization evolve, so will their religions. God doesn't evolve, just man's concept of Him.

Do religions evolve for social cohesion? Well, wolves have no moral code, yet they are a tighter social group than people.

The post to which I was responding looked at the belief system to be the same as a survival system, and they actually contradict each other. That was the point I was trying to make.

The opposite of evolving was that evolution usually carries the demeanor that we not only change, but improve/adapt for environment. What do we have, as a species, to gain in the evolution process from religion and it's moral code? Decency? Who then claims we must be a decent species? Why can't we be more savage beasts as nature intended? Possibly because, and only because of God.

Did flight feathers evolve for flight? Well, dragonflies have no feathers, yet they are better at flying than birds.

Gee, organized religion has never done anything except bring peace to the world! It's not like organized religion has ever caused genocides, inquisitions, segregation, slavery, forced conversions, bigotry, gay bashing, war, racism, and intolerance! I mean, if organized religion ever caused any of those things we would know it is very bad. But since it hasn't, let's let the dogma and fear continue!

Establishing "cause" is more prickly than waving your hands and asserting it happened. I mean, do you think if there were no such thing as organized religion all of these things would never have happened? I mean, the Assyrians didn't have everyone and their dog wanting them to die in a fire because of organized religion.

I didn't say organized religion caused those things. I said it DIDN'T cause those things. Didn't you read my post??
