thank you for sharing your experience, The_Face_of_Boo. i am really hoping that, in future, racist and hate speech comments will be moderated on WP. i don't know if this is ultimately futile or not, but i think it's important to try to change things.

I support his right to talk, what you're describing is already covered by laws concerning criminal conspiracy.

Again, see above.

Constant fear of attack isn't freedom.

It has been pointed out to me that I really have nothing to prove here given my posting history and debating record, and as things I say are being turned around exactly opposite and I'm spending too much rephrasing in order to clarify to no avail, I'm going to hold off on this thread absent any original arguments being raised. I'll respond to any genuine questions or suggestions, I'll simply no longer defend myself from insinuations and speculation about my character or motives, this isn't about me and I frankly don't have the time.

Anyone interested in contributing to the ongoing discussion of how PPR ought to operate can vote or comment in this thread: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt138230.html

As of right now, this is how the results stand:

PPR Poll wrote:
Don't talk about PPR (to the mods)! 12% [ 5 ]
Don't take things personally 17% [ 7 ]
NO subject is off limits to discuss/ no sacred cows 15% [ 6 ]
Attack the idea not the poster 7% [ 3 ]
Qualify your opinions as such 7% [ 3 ]
Keep it civil 17% [ 7 ]
Don't spam the forum, consolidate similar posts 0% [ 0 ]
No idea/belief gets a free pass 7% [ 3 ]
You don't "own" threads you start 0% [ 0 ]
Don't provoke the Strident Atheists! 10% [ 4 ]
Other rule not listed (explain in post) 2% [ 1 ]

Total Votes : 39

I'm rather pleased to note that only one person has chosen my "out" option rather than voting for one of the suggestions, and that the general consensus at this point is that the most important things are civility and the freedom to discuss contentious subjects. I'll soon be correlating this data and putting forward some draft proposals for the chosen guidelines, with the final version being submitted for moderator review and sticky status. In other words, get those votes and suggestions in soon, as I'm gearing up for phase two.

Then again, constant fear of attack is never experienced by those who are part of the majority.

Never? I'd say that Israelis make up the majority in that country and are usually on their guard, and the British are so nervous about their own citizens that they've erected a surveillance state in order to keep an eye on them at all times. I'm sure I can come up with further examples, those are just the two that first come to mind.
