Response in kind would be out of the question ...
Direct all the people you've riled up to further attack ...

There is my point in your own words: Do not rile them in the first place! For example:

Me: "Hi everyone! Does anyone here ever read stuff in Scripture?"
You: "I sure do, and it says homosexuality is an abomination!"
Me: "Shhh! Nobody had even asked that kind of thing ... and you have just "closed the door" against discussing anything from Scripture ... and by the way, my fellow, that is also called 'leading with the chin'."

Very true and it also follows with this that if one were to attack that line of reasoning then to try to reposition a line of defence of saying "Well that IS what they say in the scriptures , so you are not just attacking me but attacking my faith" is kind of underhanded and deflecting.
Is it tact, subtlety, manners, common sense, not to have to go down this track? I dunno? It certainly is not right and you make a very good point here Lee.

As I have learned things, it is simply about just/only answering questions. For example:

Me: "Hi everyone! Does anyone here ever read stuff in Scripture?"
You: "No, not really ... but I have heard it says homosexuality is an abomination!"
Me: "Yes, I believe it does."
Gay: "Hey! You are a homophobe and you have just insulted me!"
Me: "No, I was just answering You's question."
Note: The very next person to act out on that immediate controversy will lose his or her very own argument.

Not wanting to sound silly but your assertions are sounding more watered down by the post. I don't know if this is intentional but I feel you are fast heading to the following

Me: "Hi everyone! Does anyone here ever read stuff in Scripture?"
You: "No, not really ... but I have believe someone mentioned it made some passing comment relating to homosexuality in a way that someone could perceive as derogatory"
Me: "You could be right with this."
Gay: "Hey I am mortally offended! You are a homophobe and you have just insulted me!"
Me: "No, I was just answering You's question."
Note: The very next person to act out on that immediate controversy will lose his or her very own argument.

See I guess what I am saying is that people will be reasonably offended at reasonably offensive things. People have an expectation to be protected on a support forum against reasonably offensive things.
It is not necessary to fear these changes as a restrictive vessel of the PC police. I think if a person gay or not were offended by something clearly unable to be construed as offensive as your last statement then they would not be supported by reasonable moderators.
There ought to be no reason for the pendulum to swing that far the other way.

The impostor profiles remain afloat still. One remaining unmodified in the least and the other two having the names changed to "Iamnotaparakeet" and "Ben M Furryer" along with my wife's name remaining present in all of them. This is an attack upon my person and my wife, still, so I am therefore still under attack - in a manner which may affect my chances of employment in addition to the other calumnious aspects thereof associated.

In the first place? I think you at the very least would know what the first place was, but apparently you've forgotten,

Are these the same profiles you threatened ME legally about? As well as others?
If they exist, why do they exist? What have you done to make someone a) want to make them and b) want to keep them up?
I don't have the answers to these questions but perhaps instead of accusing me and at least 4 other people with assorted legal action, you ought to be a bit reflective of what you said and to whom and what effect your own behaviours and actions have.
I don't know who you would need to square this up with or why they have done imposter profiles or where to find such profiles. I admit I have searched your name on Google out of interest and apart from the Straight Dope thing and a few references here, I did not find much more on you. Try it.
Are you sure there are in fact such profiles in existence?

Yes, I do know they exist. Also, I do remember reading the intensity squared site as you folks were going through my youtube, my freewebs, my actual myspace, and my facebook page, using photos and info to make jokes about prior to your encouragement of one member as she created the impostor profiles.

This means you do have a more appropriate venue you can use to address this outside of WP.

So either this one member made these profiles or a number or members made these or no-one made these and she found them or perhaps she knew of their existence. I admit to having not read the link you have suggested but suggest that any of these may be the answer.
As for people laughing about or laughing at something. Well people laugh at all types of things I don't see what the deal is even mentioning it. (So long as it is not an employer laughing I guess. I see your point there).
But again comes the crux. Why were these "imposter profiles created" and why did you become the objet of such attention? Why not me? Or Midlife Aspie? Or Lee?
Crazy bad luck and happenstance?

I would prefer not to have the matter taken out of the hands of those involved though simply because it would be an headache of red tape, but if it is my only recourse then so be it.

it is an irony that "gay" people get mad so fast.
why do you care at all about what is outside of your head?

goodness knows, and there is not much goodness about.

No, you have simply missed it ...

"Why not have a subforum to allow for conservative Christians to discuss topics of interest to them without having to be hassled ..."

Your whine, however justified, was your own "leading with the chin".

You would have done well to have only asked this while withholding editorial comment ...

"Why not have a subforum to allow for conservative Christians to discuss topics of interest to them ...?"

Note to mods: Please let 'keet slide for having referenced a previously-locked thread. Please.

If you haven't noticed, the opening post is filled with contextless quotations from and abstracted references to threads locked by WP's moderators that were also unavailable to anyone on WP except for the moderators of WP at the time of this thread's creation. That is not to say that AlSwearegen is a moderator, but that my linking to a thread of mine which was locked by WP moderators is equal to or less than the violation of WP's rules than of the violation of that of the OP.

See I guess what I am saying is that people will be reasonably offended at reasonably offensive things. People have an expectation to be protected on a support forum against reasonably offensive things.

As I hear them, your statements there are mixing potentially-conflicting thought. To wit:

"See I guess what I am saying is that people will be reasonably offended (as they 'feel' things) at (so-called 'reasonably offensive things' as they might personally happen to merely 'see' those things). People have an expectation to be protected on a support forum against (so-called "reasonably offensive things" they might even but merely happen to personally perceive/allege as being 'offensive')."

However, and as we have now come to understand:

The alleged "offender" will nevertheless likely be considered "Guilty as even-possibly-mis-perceived!"

AlSwearengen wrote:

Agreed.

Possibly not, but that would not really matter to me either way at least in relation to myself.

Again: Possibly not, but that would not really matter to me either way in relation to myself.

In fear of this thread possibly being locked:

We all need to stop talking about past events here and look for ways to move forward.
