Last night my bride and I watched:

Transcendence [2014]
<=>"Yesterday Dr. Will Caster was only human"

How intelligent can artificial intelligence be?

What will it be able to do?

If you would like to see some entertaining speculation on those questions than this movie is:

<=>/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/R E C O M M E N D E D

But, remember it is a movie. Plus, we don't know just how high the IQ of an artificial intelligence might be. And how much its mastery of technology might exceed ours.

Oh, we both enjoyed the movie.

Companion (2025)
Streamed on HBOMax

Mmmm. How much do I reveal about this story.

Me wrote:
A gal (Iris) meets a fella (Josh) in a grocery story. She falls in love with him. Cozy cozy, hug hug, kissy kiss kiss. :heart: :heart: :heart: It is true love.
They visit some of Josh's friends in the middle of nowhere at a cabin in the rustic woods. Okay, I cannot lie. It is bigger than a cabin and it has a four car garage.
IMDB wrote:
A weekend getaway with friends at a remote cabin turns into chaos after it's revealed that one of the guests is not what they seem.
I cannot lie. That is not true.
HBOMax wrote:
Three couples gather at a remote lake house, setting off genre-blending tale of love, deceit and revenge
(I would have placed a comma after the word "deceit", but it is a quote, and I cannot lie.)
One of those descriptions is a lie.
Part of me felt an A.I.: Artificial Intelligence vibe when this movie started. Nah. I'm sure it is just my imagination.

Bugonia.

A clinically paranoid man, along with his mentally handicapped cousin, kidnap a wealthy and powerful CEO, believing she is an alien infiltrator who can get them in touch with her mothership in order to parley with the alien emperor.
Great twist at the end. Highly recommended.

I'm VERY glad you recommend it...my Bugonia disk arrived a day or two ago but we've not had a chance to watch it, yet.

Last night we watched:

Topper [1937]
<=>"They wound him up and let him run...Riot!"

Some of the characters in the beginning of the movie do not survive to the end of the movie.

But they're still in it, and enjoying themselves!

We both enjoyed the movie. RECOMMENDED!

I was initially attracted to the movie because I vaguely remembered seeing Topper [1953–1955] when I was very, very, very young.

We continued watching movies while WP was down.
I am an Aspie...so...I continued logging the movies I watched.
And now WP seems to be back (I hope, I hope, I hope...) so I can share my log.

Continuing on from the last movie we watched before WP went "away"...
Topper Takes a Trip [1938]
<=>"A Merry Romance Packed With Fun!"
Topper Returns [1941]
<=>"Topper's having girl trouble again!"
Three fun vintage movies.

Sinners [2025]
<=>"You keep dancin' with the devil...one day he's gonna follow you home."
I remember this film absorbed my attention. I can't remember how.

Bugonia [2025]
<=>"It all starts with something magnificent."
Mentioned previously by Kraichgauer.

Coherence [2013]
<=>"Rearrange your brain."
I'm sure some folk will probably enjoy it...but I didn't.

The Paul Lynde Halloween Special [1976]
<=>"What better place to spend Halloween than in a haunted house with Paul Lynde?"
WOW!! It was great! And you'd expect that from who was in it.
It's a shame he didn't do a lot of specials!

Flow [2024] Meow
Away [2019]
BEAUTIFUL!
I'm not sure whether or not it matters in what order you watch these two movies.
I am absolutely sure they are both very much worth watching.

I Married a Witch [1942]
<=>"She's a witch (and we do mean witch) who gets what she wants with hex appeal!"
Reasonably good. Especially for a movie so old.

The Littlest Hobo [1958]
<=>"A hero with REAL HAIR on his chest...and a doll who's a L'IL LAMB!"
This is a feel real good movie!

Schlock [1973]
<=>"Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre."
Um...a well-named film?

Fantastic Planet [1973]
<=>"A Sublime Trip to a Fine New World."
Visually wonderful...especially since it was made well before animated movies were being made with computers.

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls [1970]
<=>"Beyond bizarre. Beyond outrageous. Beyond any film you've ever seen."
You must be at least 17 to watch this movie.
And, not everyone who is older than 17 is old enough to watch it.

Jurassic Park [1993]
<=>"Life finds a way."
The Lost World: Jurassic Park [1997]
<=>"Something has survived"
Jurassic Park III [2001]
<=>"This Time It's Not Just A Walk In The Park!"
Jurassic World [2015]
<=>"The park is open."
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom [2018]
<=>"Life finds a way."
Jurassic World: Dominion [2022]
<=>"It all started here."
Jurassic World: Rebirth [2025]
<=>"A new era is born."
Big budget and it shows. Recommended if you have any interest at all in this franchise.

The Accountant [2016]
<=>"Do you like puzzles?"
The Accountant2 [2025]
<=>"He sees what others can't. He does what others won't."
Recommended. The only movie I've been willing to see in a theater since the Pandemic started.

Start with a 6'2" (1.89m) very healthy, high-functioning Autistic and raise him with lots of combat training...and with no moral training against using the combat training... (...and put him in good movies with reasons to use the combat training...) He's a wonderful fictional Aspie to watch. Sort of a fantasy role-model for us.

The Nut Job [2014]
<=>"Get Squirrely. Get Nutty."
The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature [2017]
<=>"You don't have to be big, to be a big hero."
Fun

Airplane! [1980]
<=>"Airplane!? What is it? It's a big metal thing with wings,
<=+=+=+=>but that's not important right now."
Airplane II: The Sequel [1982]
<=>"Just when you thought it safe to go back into the departure lounge."
Insane, absurd, ridiculous FUN!

Swamp Women [1956]
OK, I guess.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie [2024]
<=>"It all started with a big bang."
It carried its time surprisingly well.

A Day Without a Mexican [2004]
<=>"On May 14 there will be no Mexicans in California."
Might interest you if the title interests you.

WALL•E [2008]
<=>"After 700 years of doing what he was built for –
<=+=+=+=>he'll discover what he's meant for."
This is one of the greatest movies I know of. Animated or not. For young children or not.

#1 Cheerleader Camp [2010]
<=>...
Cheerleader Camp [1988]
<=>"Give me a K - Give me an I - Give me an L - Give me an L"
Cheerleader Ninjas [2002]
<=>"They're out for revenge...Just don't ask them to spell it."
Ninja Cheerleaders [2008]
<=>"This Summer's Destination For Fun"
Satan's Cheerleaders [1977]
<=>"Come score with the cheerleaders"
Flesh Gordon [1974]
<=>"From Earth to Mongo With Flesh"
Flesh Gordon Meets the Cosmic Cheerleaders [1990]
<=>"Flesh is back!"
OK, I guess. Don't go in if you offend easily, though.

The Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas [1957]
<=>"DREADED MAN-BEAST OF TIBET..."
Tolerably OK.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter [2012]
<=>"Are you a patriot or a vampire?"
Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies [2012]
<=>"He emancipated the slaves... he saved the Union... and slaughtered the undead!"
Adjust your expectations based upon the titles.

Æon Flux [2005]
<=>"The Perfect World Meets The Perfect Assassin"
Preceded by:
<=+=>—A six short episode series and then
<=+=>—A ten half-hour episode series
Collectively visually well-done science fiction/fantasy.

AFRAID [2024]
<=>"Meet AIA. She's here to help."
Sadly, a very, very plausible conjecture slightly into the future.
We might actually see this happen!

toy story 5, 3D edition. first 3D cartoon I've seen. one thing I noticed is that the apparent frame rate of 3D movies [with the default technology of Real D 3D [circular polarization passive decoding] is 48 frames per second, there was none of the judder I usually see with regular old-fashioned 24 frames per second projection, a BIG BONUS IMHO. anyways, the movie cleverly pushed my emotional buttons, resonating with my childhood and early adulthood hurts. :(

Maybe, but unusually dark for a Steven Spielberg film led by a
strong performance from Emily Blunt.

On another note, the ensemble horror film Weapons.

Last night we watched:

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert [1994]
<=>"She's back... Looking as gorgeous and outrageous as ever in a brand new frock."

I will admit we watched it because my bride wanted to.

I'll also (mildly) admit I enjoy it...but it's not the kind of film I frequent.
