I wonder this as well. I used to be a boss, and I think either your boss is an idiot, or he wants an excuse to fire you and has made up this complaint, that it was him who didn't like the post. (Assuming you have allowed him access to your FB account?) I would also suggest talking to an ombudsman if you have one, or someone in HR who handles complaints, and also if you have a diagnosis letting them know. Of course it's up to you.

As for Facebook, I only had anything to do with it after I retired, but if I was still employed and wanted to be there, what I would do is set up an account under my real name, let it be semi-public (without posting much personal data) and NEVER POST THERE. If my employer came across it I wouldn't want them to find anything they could complain about.

I'd also set up a second alias account and let only true, trusted friends connect with me there or even know it existed, and never ever enter any personally identifying information such as employer, schools, etc. It's against FB terms, or at least it was when I was there, to have a second account or one that wasn't under your real name, but I knew a lot of people who did, for this very reason. And who cares if it's against FB rules? You have to protect yourself from employer abuse - which I consider this to be. What you post on FB is your business, but apparently you have to protect it yourself.

As to who the friend might be if the employer isn't lying, I'd also review each and every person I let have access to my account and block anyone suspicious.

I'm sorry this happened, and I really hope you get to stay in your job if you like it there. But the whole situation seems wrong to me, so maybe you'd be better off moving on.

Dump Facebook. In a world of dicks who have nothing better to do than get into other peoples' business, it's not worth it.

He should mind his own damn business. What you do outside of working hours is of no concern to him. Who the hell does he think he is?!

that post on facebook has nothing to do with hospitals. I think that if they try to put anymore screws on you, you have legal recourse. you have two if not three witnesses and a pretty solid case. i guess let this probation thing go but if they start doing anything else you should seek legal advice

The problem is that now a days employers can pretty well fire you for just about anything.

People have been fired for what they have posted on facebook, and really if you do get fired I doubt there's much you could do about it. Facebook is so problematic these days it is probably better to do without it. For that matter you could hypothetically be fired for something you post here on Wrongplanet.

Yeah, rest assured no matter what the laws of your country say it's pretty easy to fire someone, especially given modern surveillance technology. If there was no facebook, they will just use another angle to fire or get you to quit like they did when framing me for giving thousands of dollars of product away. My father warned me if I wasn't careful someone high up might eventually plant drugs in my locker and at the time I laughed at how crazy that sounded. Sadly, he wasn't far off the truth.

i don't think it was one of your internet friends. i think it was them spying on you and instead of saying, "we saw what you posted," they're making your friends the bad guy, taking them off the hook.

It's obvious that the "friend" that saw the comment was your boss himself. You can't be sure this is to get rid of you. I'd be more inclined to think this is a sick person checking your boundaries, i.e. observing your reaction and seeing how much abuse they can get away with, with you. What I would do (to teach her my boundaries) is tell her that I've discovered who the friend was and that I have the Police on it. Nothing more. If she asks for details, say you don't want to talk about it and remain firm about it. It's a warning about your boundaries, while seemingly not involving your boss in any incrimination. But the most urgent for you now is that you MUST get rid of your naivete a bit ! !!

Everybody's real job no matter what the job description: Make your boss like having you around. The number one thing your boss appreciates is helping him make his boss like having him around. NTs know it's sick too, but they have an easier time complying because they have more social skills, a higher tolerance for irrationality and more inclination to prefer a higher income to doing their nominal job tasks well.

You likely already know this, but never refer to your work on Facebook, or name your workplace. If you have done this, remove the posts or your account.

If you can do this discreetly and are unionized, look up your rights!! !!

This is ridiculous. Your FB post was quite obviously farce to any reasonable (or even unreasonable) person with even a modicum of understanding.
Your boss aint worth a sack of sh*t if this is really how it played out.
