I'm not saying I agree with social gatherings. In fact I turned down an invite I had to a birthday party by my cousin because I want to do my part and not risk getting or spreading the virus.

But I still wouldn't grass other people up. Would I report my cousin for having a party? No. I don't care what the government says about grassing, people aren't going to like you for grassing them up. All I'm doing is making sure I'm not throwing or attending any parties. I can't control what other people do, and I am not going to be programmed to control what other people do either.

Yes - the government should NOT be encouraging people to snitch on neighbours. Live and let live is a good motto!

Perhaps the time isn't ripe yet for huge social gatherings. I'm not one for large gatherings really - but miss the vibe of road races, fetes, the annual Night at the Museum and even our local Autism get-togethers for tenpin bowling, indoor putt putt and barbecues.

Thank you Envirozentinal, for bringing up an important point;
There are situations where masks CANNOT be worn; you specified those well!
That is where we all have to make serious decisions and choices.

F that!

We’ve all sacrificed so much to keep the numbers down there’s no way we should let some inconsiderate scofflaws ruin everything. Gather in a large group? Damn rights I’ll phone and report you.

envirozentine did not say he agrees with gathering in large group. He just misses it, like most people do.
Think before you jump all over somebody because their opinions aren't the same as yours.

I didn’t learn that “grassing” is telling on someone until I got to WP.

^Seems to be more a British usage, from British rhyming slang so probably not used all that much in the US.

:?

He said the government should NOT be encouraging people to snitch on neighbours.

I said F that! To that.

This isn’t the wrongplanet forum where reporting posts is almost always stupid and childish. This is a global viral pandemic where when people disregard public health orders, the virus spreads and people die.

I 100% believe governments should be encouraging their citizens to report large gatherings and that those who gather should be fined. Because it’s about living and letting live - literally. We’ve all sacrificed so much to keep this virus from spreading uncontrolled, to keep it from decimating our elderly and immunocompromised populations.. there’s Zero sense in allowing some selfish kids to have a party and then go spread covid everywhere that could kill people. Why would we go through so much hard work & financial/economic loss only to throw it all away and follow the USA’s lead? That’s just plain stupid.

Post dumb crap here? I probably won’t ever report your posts. I’ve only reported 2 ever and one was my own that I wanted edited or removed.

Gather in groups flouting the laws during a pandemic? *REPORTED* Enjoy your $200-2000 fines, you selfish a**holes!

I'm not in the UK. Our government is reducing us to level 1 from Sunday. Venues can now have 50% capacity except that a limit of 250 for indoors and 500 for outdoors is enforced. Some international travel is likely to be allowed. No more limits on Interprovincial travel. During April and May the rules were pretty draconian - we had 5 weeks on level 5 and another month on Level 4. but no one was reporting people breaching the rules, although there were several reports of police in some parts of the country manhandling lockdown breakers and abusing their power.

Our situation has stabilized now, as most folk kept to the regulations - we might have grumbled a little, but we did it.

In the US it seems too difficult to get people to comply, so the situation isn't stabilizing yet.

I'm finding that people in my area are happily complying. But overall I agree with you, the US is not doing what needs to be done to get this under control. If only there was a coordinated federal response instead of what we have.

I’m not in the USA either.

Bars and clubs were just completely shutdown again and stricter rules for restaurants were put in place because they’re a big transmission hot spot. People are instructed to limit gatherings to 2-6 people outside your bubble.

So, when parties of 50-300+ people happen like the 300+ teens at a mansion party in the British Properties, or the young people gathered at the hair salon rave in a ghetto suburb, damn rights I’m all for them being reported/reporting them myself. Same same for weddings or any other large groups with no social distancing or masks. This is how we don’t become the USA and everyone can safely get back to work and the basics of life besides social stuff.

It’s not rocket surgery, but if you’re too stupid to comprehend why the rules are in place and the importance of abiding by them, then expect to be reported and to open your wallet. Covidiots.

^That bars and nightclubs spread it isn't surprising unfortunately, as you cannot wear a mask while drinking, smoking etc. So unfortunately that "avenue of pleasure" is currently roadblocked!

Same in restaurants, but the problem is that with alcohol people tend to get more social and table hop/interact with others vs stay at their table with their small group.

The UK is going to have another f*****g lockdown, I don't see what good it is going to do, the virus won't go away. Why don't they just hurry the f**k up and get a vaccine, WE WANT OUR FREEDOM BACK!! !! !! !

Yes even if a possible vaccine has side effects they could allow people to use it, if it's undergone basic testing to see that at least it doesn't kill anyone. The FDA in the US seems to play things way too safe, but in other countries such as my own, they would be more open to the idea of any vaccine that shows promise.

I'm sorry the UK is having more lockdown rules. Here, we will shortly be on the lowest lockdown level. We can now travel interprovincially and some limited international travel will be permitted. We went through a tough two to three months whilst on levels 5,4 and 3. It seems to have mainly been to reduce pressure on the hospitals.

Our recovery rate is good and there's been a strong pressure to get the economy going again.

I hope that’ll only be temporary like in March/April. Even here, I always got the sense that me might have another lockdown at some point, more likely during winter time.
