Either is fine but I prefer face to face.

Can you bury/distract yourself, short term, in video games, just to get over bad periods?

I have structured my day in several activities.
Video gaming is part of it, now.

-I get up.
-I watch the news to see what is happening.
-I go online to correspond.
-I take the dogs for a walk.
-I do a bit of gardening.
-I go for a short drive with the dogs.
-I play some video gaming.
-Back to online stuff.
-Rinse and repeat. ;)

I had a routine similar than school work intervened.

Dear HighVamp,
How are you doing today?
Have you eaten something good for you?
Had non-caffeinated drinks?
Reached out to some positive people on the Internet?
Have you considered talking to your therapist about re-evaluating your meds?
Done some exercise?
Let us know how you’re feeling.
We care about you.

I am neutral if that is even a feeling.
For food does icecream count.
No caffeine today.
Yes I talked to some positive people today.
I been on them for a while don't really feel like going through the process of changing them. It is a tedious and long process.
No it has been raining almost all day with this tropical storm coming closer.

You say "neutral" where I see "stable".
"Stable" is what I aim for, after turbulent emotional times.
It is a good base to work from.

Occasionally little accomplishments are the key to trying bigger ones , little satisfactions can help onto the next one.
Perhaps that idea of using the vacuum cleaner as a distraction is a good one . Hope you get through these day to day troubles regarding depths of depression . Hang in there . :)

That sounds good.
I still hope you will go to your doctor and get re-evaluated.
Over time, meds can lose their effectiveness.
And, newly-developed meds can be better for your specific problems.
You and I gravitate towards the sweets, I see.
I am making an effort to focus on vegetables.
Though TV dinners are looked down on by many people, in 15 minutes you do have a balanced meal., so I try to keep 1 or 2 in the freezer so I don’t gorge on junk food when I’m hungry.
Do you have good communication with your parents/family?

Yes, the technique/strategy of "Baby Steps". 8)

I lost 10Kgs, recently.
"It didn't happen overnight, but it did happen."
There is a great sense of accomplishment that is driving me further.

When I first started walking/marching, I started small.
Perhaps 15 minutes a day.
Now I am doing 2 hours of serious power-walking and actually look forward to the exercise.

I have come a long way in a relatively short time.
I'm bloody fantastic, and everyone should know that. 8)

The following is something I Googled, just now:

Quote:
Achieving goals requires taking small steps. Success reinforces success.

These are the simple steps I’ve been taking to reach my goals:

1. Break big goals/tasks down into smaller, doable tasks.

2. Acknowledge and revel in your accomplishments, however small. Feel the pride and joy of the win.

3. Take baby steps.

4. Succeed.

5. Feel the pride.

6. Take more baby steps.

7. Keep moving.

8. Know that each small win is an accomplishment unto itself.

9. Keep moving.

10. Open up to bigger things as you keep moving.

It’s easier to make a comeback from a little tumble than from a steep fall. It’s a shorter road back up. So, baby steps, slow and steady. Now start with one foot and go for it.

My relationship with my parents is ok. I can talk to them, but prefer not to talk about mental things. Everytime I talk about something she calls me crazy. Saying only psychos talk like that  My dad is more accepting. When I came out he started watching lez shows to understand better. :) But I have hard times at night when I'm left alone with my thoughts. I have people to distract me in the morning , so it is easier to ignore the thoughts and urges.

If I am having problems at night, with thoughts I'd rather not have, I leave the TV on while I try to go to sleep.
The background sounds helps to distract me.
I guess you could do the same with the radio.

NT, here, i suffered from panic attacks a long time ago...To the extent that i was prescribed heart failure medicine for six months...Eventually, it was a sleeping disorder expert who accurately diagnosed me and prescribed half of the minimum dose of Zoloft...To be honest, Zoloft caused horrible side-effects...But i educated myself on the topic of panic attacks...I learned that these should only last about 5 minutes...Knowing this in advance makes a huge difference...I also focused on my breathing...And positive self-talk..."No, i am not gonna die...This is only a false alarm...There is no danger!" "...Understanding the fight-flight reaction also helps...You need to burn-out the excess of adrenaline pumping your body...Walk it off...And keep in mind fear is a bully, the more you pay attention to it, the worst!! !...Instead, think about it in terms of an ocean wave coming to you...Do not fight it; surf it . Get well soon wishes heading your way...

If your computer is in your bedroom, you can have ambient mood sounds playing in the background, to help get your mind off unpleasent thoughts.
You could also have your favourite light/happy music playing, as an alternative.

Here are some ambient sound suggestions:
