So many people get cancer. My uncle had skin cancer. My other uncle died from cancer. My mom had skin cancer. Both my grandmothers had breast cancer. My dad is currently dying from cancer. My cousin's kid is only the 2nd baby to survive a rare paediatric cancer. etc etc. People get cancer - sometimes it's detected and treatable, other times it isn't. Sometimes it's curable, other times not. etc.

Still makes zero sense to stress yourself sick with excessive anxiety about it. That's an incredibly unhealthy perspective and only serves to harm your mental and physical health. Hence my suggestion that you see a doctor about that specifically.

I had a tumour on my spina and didn't know it until I had a scan for something completely unrelated. Luckily it's more than likely benign but still causes me pain every now and then.

Sometimes it does pay to be hypervigilant about these things.

Does it ever pay to be hyper anxious about every potential medical concern that goes on with your anatomy?

If there's a lump, make an appointment and get it checked out. Makes zero sense to go on and on and on about every little thing as if it's the end of the world. All that does is create stress and increased cortisol that makes you Actually more susceptible to getting physically ill due to weakening your own immune system with the self imposed stress.

Well each to his or her own.

I'm not the type to go to the doctors but I woke up one morning and couldn't walk so I had to have a scan and they found a tumour. Luckily it's benign.

Maybe Joe's anxiety comes from the fact she recently lost her mother who didn't know she was sick until it was too late.

From the symptoms she exhibits in multiple threads about health concerns it seems it stems from hyper anxiety about health & wellness/concerns about illness.. ie hypochondria, which is a medical condition that she should inquire about treating via counselling/therapy or whatever expert doctors recommend.

It's entirely unhealthy to be so fixated on believing that your health is in immediate peril every time you experience some slight medical concern or another.

Although I can't really disagree with you, the trouble with hyperchondria in our particular culture is that it's seen as an insult.

It's a medical condition, just like other forms of anxiety, depression, paranoia, delusions etc and should be addressed by a doctor vs. ignored when it's clearly causing her unnecessary distress.

It could be a muscle strain?
Did you do any unusual physical work lately?

I get pains, too, from time to time.
It usually gets better in 3 or 4 days if it is muscle related.

It feels like a stitch. I can feel it more if I'm yawning or breathe in deeply while lying down. It doesn't hurt so much when I'm walking about. But I've been lying down a lot in the last few days because of the vertigo and not being well. I'm hoping to get out for a peaceful walk around the graveyard with my partner today. Maybe I just need some fresh air.

Muscle strain pain is usually more painful when you first get up in the morning.
During the day, the muscle loosens up with movement and becomes less severe IF you haven't actually torn it.
Muscle strain can happen if you sleep in a poor position and strain the muscle for a prolonged period.

To be fair I don't think there's many living people who don't worry about cancer at some time in their lives. I know I have in the past.

Cancer schmancer...
"Dementia" is more of a concern when you get to a certain age. 8O

Cancer scares me more than dementia (obviously I wouldn't wish neither on anyone and both are equally worrying when happening to your loved ones).

Except that you seem to worry disproportionately more than other people do about similar things - hence the reason you should address that with medical experts who can help you.

From my perspective, you are still a 'kitten', and problems regarding possible dementia are far into the future.
I understand your concern about cancer.
Even young ppl can be affected.

I now have a new worry. The right side of my face is swollen and hot.

I think I'm just dying upwards.

Still keeps swelling up. I saw a doctor, she wasn't sure what it was either, as I don't feel unwell and I can breathe and eat fine. She gave me some antihistamines that I'm taking but I can only take one a day.

I haven't eaten anything different to what I normally eat, but as far as I know I'm not allergic to anything. Just the right side of my face feels really hot and I can see my own cheek.

Do you think these weird ailments I keep getting are due to stress I'm having with the neighbours?
