Its like someones imagination has gone absolutely bananas and then they find a mathematical equation to make it real.

The problem with simulators is you need to run a beaker full of organics (periodically enriching it) for 1 billion years in an anaerobic warm temperature controlled cabinet to replicate what happened on earth.

One thing that we often see is people thinking that aliens (assuming they exist) look like us. There is absolutely no reason to think that they would look like us and every reason to think that they wouldn't.

It says more about people's thoughts about humans than their thoughts about aliens.

According to the biggest sceptics in NASA a 75 percent probability of life and 60 percent likelihood of intelligence, for an overall probability of 45 percent. Keep in mind this is a highly conservative figure.

If the Bayesian analysis is right, that means even for Earth to be itself was the probabilistic minority (that's reasonable). But it’s still a concrete argument for the existence of life on Earthlike planets around the universe.

Looks like it's pretty good odds for intelligent life.

On the question of what non-terrestrial and/or interdimensional beings would look like. Yes it's plausible intelligent life could evolve in biological form that is "non-humanoid". Grays, reptilians and mantis aliens certainly don't look human to me.

There's a few more that Isaac Arthur made videos about on YouTube, but one I've thought of is this, and I think I made a post about it before, but either way it goes like this:

  1. A handful of eugenicist oligarchs decide everyone beneath them is unnecessary.
  2. They sabotage the lives of those they artificially impoverish until most starve to death.
  3. Rich snobs leftover get genetic degradation despite genetic sciences they no longer understand.
  4. Each successive generation of snobby wannabe Hapsburgs gets shorter livespans by defects until they also all no longer can reproduce and then nobody is left.
