I was disappointed when Eccleston left the show, but it was nice to see it "survive" one of the Doctor's regenerations--and so well.
If I have to pick a favorite, it's going to be Christopher Eccleston at this point. I love Tennant, but Eccleston's stories really resonated with me (one of my favorites being "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances"). A few of Tennant's episodes have fallen a bit short of the mark for me (not many, and not far--but just enough to keep Eccleston on top).
Of course, I'm now 37, married, and have three children--so Christopher Eccleston's really my "first" Doctor for this part of my life!
Ya, out of respect for Eccleston, I was kind of mad at the snarky Tennant when he first arrived as the new doctor -- but he eventually totally won me over, which I didn't think would happen. I liked the no-nonsense style of Eccleston, and I didn't like when Tennant got too silly.
Heck, I was mad at them for even
starting the new series in the first place! I thought they wouldn't be able to do it justice, but I was proven wrong about that as well. I like it a lot. A tad on the corny side, but I suppose that's as it should be.
