Seriously, this is the area that scares me the most about Hillary. It's OK to try to protect our children, but not when you do it by taking away eneryone else's rights.

That is similar to people who are teachers saying people need to walk in their shoes after sitting in school for over a decade and watching the show go down. I think everyone has the picture of what parenting and school teaching is about.

So...you can perform surgery, because you've been to the doctor's office before?
Nope. You will never understand, not remotely, unless you've been there. It's yet another entirely different planet.

This is interesting. I can see that you're all very angry with Hillary Clinton on the issue of government control vs. parental control over children, except that I haven't seen a single concrete example of what it is that Clinton wants to do that you don't like. It pretty much looks like you're all getting worked up over vague rhetoric.

Today, almost nobody in the neighborhood knows anyone else. Kids are either kept in caves to watch TV and play video games, or they run amok. Adults really have no right to speak to a kid unless there is something major going wrong, and even then, they risk getting yelled at/punched out/sued by the parents of the juvenile delinquents.
yeah, and I always thought that was the reason long ago when people dated they settled down because everyone knew everyone elses momma or aunt or grandpa so people treated folks better. and maybe they wern't the best match but they settled into each other after a while and raised kids that knew other kids and the cycle starts again. The biggest problem with internet dating is that no one has 'networking' from two different parts of the country if one goes to the others to live.
it's the break down of the fabric of American life that has allowed the big companies to dictate what we need in our lives. Iam glad somebody running for president knows that is a way to heal America after we have been ravished and ravaged by the last 8 years.

poor comparision, even a nurse who has been in the opperating room for years isn't likely to think they could fill the doctors shoes. Being a parent or teacher isn't brain surgery

On the parenting issue I echo your sentiments Johnnie.
On the notion that big business dictates our lives, I must disagree with most people.
Your life is your own and you are free (to a certain extent) to live it as you wish. It is the default on that choice that leads people to take the (so called) easy option and have someone else tell them what they should value that leads to this so called loss of individual identity. It is a persons own abdication that leads to big business (or government, or whatever) supposedly dictating to a person how to live.
You would be free from all of that if you just stand up for your own convictions and assume the responsibility of your own life.
Which in essence is my response to the parenting issue too. It is naive of someone that has not had kids to assume the knowledge of what it takes to raise one. And it is patently absurd for parents to assume that being a parent endows them with some special insight into the nature of mankind that would allow them some superiority over their fellow citizens who lack natural heirs. It is not special insight that denotes these two creatures but ignorance. And I would suggest that surgery takes a lot more studious endeavour than what most parents put into learning developmental psychiatry or philosophy in order to truly develop a well rounded human being ready to tackle life.

The culture changed because when we are seperated from each other, we have to buy more things to make sure that we don't need to reach out to anyone else. Good for business. We don't know how to be a village anymore. It's not how we evolved but it's what we are now because of leaders who want to control people by keeping them paranoid of each other.

last one was no different, it's all about them, not about giving a crap about anyone but themselves and their own ego's.

imports doubled prior to the rising cost of energy as camrade clinton sold out the american workers and under his rain of terror on the american public his lack of any sort of energy policy lead to the doubling of barrels of imported oil and now his jackazz VP runs around babbling about global warming, yet sat in the white house while people bought SUV's to commute 50 each each way between their jobs and massive country estate.
Thankfully The Great President George Bush has reversed the policy of a stong dollar to ween people off imported oil and imported consumer junk. The stupid policies of the comrade clinton administration where bound to crash long term but he didn't care as long as the simpletons though he was great. The guy is a POS and so is his wife.
My observations were about culture in general - they had nothing to do with Bush, they weren't partisan, they weren't even liberal or conservative.
Oil is priced in dollars, so devaluing the dollar (ie, devaluing your wages or salary) doesn't affect the price of oil for Americans. The Chinese link the value of their currency to the dollar, so stuff from China isn't any more expensive. A weak dollar will primarily affect commerce between the US and allies like Europe and Japan.

I'm glad to hear $3.00 a gallon gas & heating oil doesn't affect americans and catapiller and boeing can't raise their prices when they sell to china or can farm products be exported to china at higher prices and lee Wangs can't tell a gringo, no $1 dollar, Lee now charge $2 dollar.

The increase in oil and gasoline prices is due to issues related to supply and demand, not to the declining value of the dollar. High demand around the world and inability to rapidly increase production are the two biggest factors. Political uncertainty in the Middle East adds a bit to every barrel, and possibly speculation/manipulation of markets by some shady characters.
The Chinese Yuan went down slightly because the Chinese government decided it would go down. That exchange rate does not float freely. The great President Bush didn't have anything to do with that adjustment ... the Chinese acted in their own interests. You can try exporting farm commodities to China at any price you want, but if you try charging more than the market rate for an undifferentiated commodity, you won't get far.
