The points I was making were not intended to be proscriptive. Certainly 'Tony Blair\'s thought police' have nothing to do with it, but on the other hand, if some people say things that could alienate others, that could, theoretically be problematical.
Also, I would advance the view that Tony Blair's thought police arrived before even he did, which would at least lend credence to your point about them being his thought police, I suppose.
