Do you want to participate in a religious experiment?
Simple. I'll report the results, if any, of a personal encounter with God.

All other things being equal, destroying these crops the world over would almost certainly do more good than harm.
However, synthetics such as 3-methylfentanyl would take their place almost immediately.
not to mention crystal meth and other synthetics out there that are far worse.
3-methylfentanyl (aka 'China White') is many times more potent than heroin (which is ruinous to begin with)
yeah, i looked it up. crystal meth is still more popular and more common place.

I wouldn't deny that.
But, IIRC, there are synthetic stimulants thus far known only in chemical research journals which are hundreds of times more potent than cocaine, etc. It's only a matter of time before at least a handful of these agents are economical enough to flood the streets.

Fnord we dont want god to destroy opium, it is still our best form of pain relief. Maybe god could let you know the
exact physiological mechanism for pain so that it can be alleviated more effectively.

Psimulus, does this mean you will participate?
Matter can not be created nor destroyed. All matter is subject to change. Since we are matter and have been created, the question is by what.
Since matter can not be destroyed, that may be proof of an afterlife. This experiment will test Fnord to see if he can experience God through some spiritual event or that he might see a sign which transcends human logic and rationale.

I have already conducted this experiment. I believe that if Fnord truly seeks existence of the divine, he will find it. You dont have to call it god either Fnord. I view it as an infinite Universe within anything is possible based upon what we have already experienced and as related to imagination and logical congruence. Perhaps it is important to start with small steps and then gradually increase our belief that what was once not possible may now be possible. This in effect can "trick" your sub-conscious into accepting even more profound effects. Reality is the sum of our perceptions, what is true for one, may or may not be be true for another.

Thanks for paying special attention to me on this issue. I was not kidding about my wife and she has more troubles to deal with than our foolishness involves. As for myself, I frankly don't know what goes on in the head of someone praying. Is it a conversation, a pleading message, a resolution of faith. I have none of the latter and cannot take this kind of effort seriously since the god business is mere buncom to me. If here is a God, of course He is behind the effort and does not require any effort from me. If a God appeared to me how could I determine if it was God and not some alien life form playing games? Anybody looking like the classical Jesus could just be some clever sleight of hand artist in costume. If it was God, of course, He could merely totally take over my mind and convert me, but He could do that anytime without the theatrics. The whole idea makes no sense.

Good idea. I'll be sure to mention it if He shows up.

Although this whole idea is, frankly, not terribly bright, it does indicate what several people here conceive of God. First, after a couple of thousand years, he never thought of putting on a pair of pants and a T shirt and coming here to declare his presence. We all know where he would end up if he tried that in public. The last guy that tried that was treated badly by a couple of carpenters. And the US nuthouses are not in very good shape these days. But the strangest thing to me is how the fanatics take to deniers with machine guns. Why do they feel God is so helpless he cannot protect himself? I just don't dig this whole business of assuming a helpless stupid god. Of course, what they say in the Bible is not very encouraging.
Thank you for participating Pheonixxus.
So far the people involved are:
Fnord
Accelerator
Psimulus
Pheonixxus
Magnus
And Synth, you are welcome to call on Thor or any of the other Gods and Goddesses.
Does anyone else want to participate in this? This experiment is being performed because Fnord requested it, not because we want converts.
Just to fill in anyone new who may be observing, this is what the experiment is about:
Matter can not be created nor destroyed. All matter is subject to change. Since we are matter and have been created, the question is by what.
Since matter can not be destroyed, that may be proof of an afterlife. This experiment will test Fnord to see if he can experience God through some spiritual event or that he might see a sign which transcends human logic and rationale.
Sand, I really wish you and your wife can find peace during these hard times. I know you think this is experiment is silly, but it's all in good fun.
Sometimes just knowing that you are not alone in your suffering is the little bit of solace that helps to keep you going.
Are there any other volunteers? This experiment starts on October 10 at 11:11am. We pray at 11:11 for 7 days and nights.

As I stated above,
I have already conducted this experiment. The results were positive, for me. If fnord would like to have an experience that he could call divine, or extraterrestrial, transdimensional, quantum corellary, etc. The potential for this is within him self. The only thing we can do, as a group, is to speak in favor of these mystical like happenings. Though I will probably(though not absolutely) condemn myself to criticism and scrutiny, I will relay a small portion of some of the happenings I have experienced.
1. I have seen a plane freeze in the sky.
2. My grandfather appeared to me and attempted to commune when I was fully awake the night after the day he died. I was 6.
3. I had a man in a robe scream at me in a dream. He was yelling, "Malachi!" I had never heard that word before then.
4. The day my cousins betrothed gave birth, I thought to myself, "She is going to give birth", I did not inform anyone for fear of seeming insane. She had the baby a few hours later. We were not even in the same location and had not spoken in days.
5. I have had multiple life and death experiences. "I believe I have been to the other side" or at least I was at the door.
6. I can lucid dream with a high percentage rate and can enter the hypnogogic state within moments, and come back from it without falling to sleep.
These are just a fraction of the events I have experienced. If fnord is not ready for a paradigm shift or shellshock than that is his choice. All he has to do is open his mind and allow him self to accept what ever it is he seeks i.m.o.
