How on Earth would you consider it ironic for me to nominate Dox47, or is that Ironic™ and not actually ironic?

your nomination would not be ironic, but if he became a moderator... that would be ironic, because he doesn't want too much moderation in the forum (if at all).

That would actually be a qualification in favor of him. A person worthy of leadership isn't interested in the prospect of leadership for its own sake.

i didn't say he wouldn't want the job... i said he didn't want too much moderation in the forum.

it would be like a luddite t.v. repairperson... ironic.

Using a reference to a social movement group of the 19th century, the Luddites, as a derogatory term against Dox47 now?

Can you answer me this question: What is so bloody terrible about freedom of speech? The possibility that people may get offended? I don't think you're worried about offending people, though I could be wrong, however you seem to only care if offense travels from the political right to the political left, but not vice versa.

"Aboreal Africans" from the right vs. "anti-intellectual vomit" from the left. I wonder whose being more derorgatory and attacking non-ideological groups here ... :scratch

wow, that is some misunderstanding... it was used an analogy... do you understand the use of analogy to explain a point?

there was nothing derogatory about anybody in my post. here's another analogy to try to explain what i meant:

Dox47 becoming a moderator would be like an animal-hater becoming a veterinarian.

do you see how i used an example as a comparison to demonstrate the irony? i am not calling Dox47 an animal-hater or a luddite... would you like another example, or do you get it now?

Luddite is sort of an ironic comparison since I'm a gunsmith/machinist that builds my own tools when I'm not posting here, but I digress. The better analogy would be I'd moderate like a cheapskate planning a dinner party; using the smallest amount that would do the job. I don't hate the mods or moderation, I just view them as the last resort rather than the first.

This is all academic anyway, there's no way Alex would ever offer me the job, though I appreciate the compliment 'Keet. :D

Moderation ought to be the last resort. How would anyone like it at a job if anytime they mildly offended some random customer or coworker they got a threat from management in an office hidden away from public scrutiny? Too many people today are just plain way too easily offended. I think there ought to be more Equal Opportunity Offenders© such as Carlos Mencia and Brad Stine.

Anyhow, you're welcome.

that kind of moderation isn't the case in any one of the forums on WP, so it's a non-issue really. people being mildly offended is not the problem, and nobody has suggested that slightly offensive posts should be moderated.

I believe sinsboldly posted a little while ago on this thread, just prior to my nomination of Dox47 even. Sinsboldly, do you have anything to say about moderation here in the past?
