I don't like the way it feels and it takes too much work to apply it. Also I have skin problems. So it's not a good idea for me.

Oh, be careful with that. It's not really a good idea to share makeup with other people anyway (the possibility for passing infections is there), but makeup expires too.

I don't worry about catching anything because if I was going to I already would have done so, but you make a good point about makeup expiring. It's only since I use it so seldom I haven't actually gone out and bought some of my own. When I do use it, I use barely any as I don't like the feeling of it on my skin or having to worry about things smearing.

I understand, and yeah, if you were going to catch something from that because of sharing, you all ready would have done so, but the expiring can be a problem. My mother is much the same way; she uses makeup exceptionally rarely (maybe once a year, if there's a wedding or a funeral, and it's little then), but she got an infection from one of the items she had for years (some mascara; it had gone bad, unfortunately).

The smearing is why I almost never wear anything other than foundation (which I do because I'm vain). I can't resist the temptation to rub my eyes or use a napkin, and I end up looking like a clown.

Almost never. I don't like the way it feels on my skin, and I tend to touch my face very often, rub my eyes etc - so it would not stay on anyway.

I actually like mineral makeup, as it covers but still looks natural. I also wear eyeshadow, blush, mascara, and lipstick or lip gloss. I also paint my toenails since I'm not allowed to wear any polish on my fingernails at work because I work around food. I don't keep makeup around long enough for it to expire, especially foundation since I wear that every day.

I wear mascara and eyebrow pencil every day because I feel vulnerable without it (I'm not proud of this but it's true, I use make up as a mask/shield against the outside world). I never wear eyeshadow though as I have no idea how to apply it without looking like a five-year-old playing with her mother's cosmetics.

Same here. Plus, it's expensive.

I hate make-up and refuse to wear it, primarily because of the sensation.
There's also the fact that I somewhat resent being expected, by virtue of my possession of a uterus, to paint my face on a regular basis.

I've never liked full-face makeup, either the feel/smell/taste of it on or the appearance of it when it is overdone. However when I was a teenager I had more than one person (one case I recall very clearly) tell me they assumed I was some kind of religious extremist because I never wore makeup (honestly, I hadn't thought it was that obvious). When I got glasses as a teenager I started wearing mascara because I hated the way the glasses looked and I thought it made my eyes better behind them. I continued that even after I switched to contacts. I have very pale eyelashes so I think it looks better with mascara. On rare occasions I'll also wear eyeliner or eyeshadow, because I like how it looks. The kind of makeup that covers all your skin would probably improve my complexion but I can't stand the feel/smell (same with lipstick).

Blimey, I have forgotten how makeup and lipstick actually smell. I can't stand it. There are now products, I presume, that have no smell but seem like nobody bothers using them. How do people manage to wear a strong-smelling substance under their nose all day, I can't even guess.

I rarely ever wear makeup. The last makeup I bought had a funny smell that I could hardly stand. High school reunions and job interviews are about the only occasions I will wear it for. I like the air on my face. When I don't have makeup on, it feels like my skin can breathe.

What's more, I can't see at all without my glasses. Even if my face is just 2 inches away from the mirror I can't see what I'm doing, so I don't bother with it.

Most of the time I don't but I do wear some as part of getting dressed up. I don't go out much though where I would get dressed up. I like that I look better when I wear it and that it finishes a look when dressed up but don't like the hassle of applying it and even more of taking it off.

I can draw and paint and I can do makeup too. I find it kind of Art - how exciting is changing someone's face, showing some features and hiding others. I have pretty ID-photos, because of my well done makeup. Maybe one day I will make video/blog.

I do makeup rarely, because I sleep too much and I don't care, I prefer to eat breakfast than have makeup. But when I do, I do it wonderful. My Mum suggest me to go to makeup course - it's interesting thing.
I have a big collection of eyeshadows and powders. I have a sense of colours, beauty type. Makeup is part of my special interest - Human, including: anatomy, physiology, meds, nutrition, body types, anthropology, fashion projects, brafitting and styling. Excluding psychology. Humans are really fascinating outside.

My colour type is Winter - I have black hair, hazel eyes and pale olive skin. The most difficult thing is finding right foundation/powder shade - I need light shade with yellow-greenish undertone. EDM doesn't sell my colours any more, so I have to look for equivalents.
I love eye shadows. The best colours for me are black, gray, blue, violet, green, silver.
I hate oily lips, but I know that sometimes lipstick is necessary (autumn, winter), so I have some - colourless, transparent red, red or dark pink. I remove it when I come indoors, because I can't stand this oil.

I regret that I decided to correct my eyebrows shape. Permanent make up is ok, but I should have not make my eyebrows more round. I wait for fading.

Fun thread. Lots of interesting opinions.

In recent years, I have cut way back on the amount of makeup I use. I live in the desert and at least moisturizer is mandatory for most women here, especially those my age. And a quick swipe of lipstick before I walk out the door is as natural as brushing my teeth.
