Locked-In Syndrome
I cannot understand how you missed my posts. If you chose to ignore it, you prove my point. It was a direct statement the kind that needs a respond.
Now, for my rant:<fake rant>
Emp you *%&$^* how dare you insult 1337 culture with your foolishness!</fake rant>
giving many of his statement truth? Yeah ok skippy.
It seems like a logical position to me.
and
Yes; I was agreeing with you.
I think it's a matter of semantics. In addition to being emminently logical, defining oneself as a 'most-likely-ist' gives one the freedom to change position at any time during the course of a debate. This freedom wouldn't be available to anyone who begins an argument with, "I'm a Christian, and..." or "I'm an atheist because..." In my opinion, the freedom to change views at will could itself be considered a belief system, in which nothing is true and everything is permitted.
Apparently. He convinced me of the logic of his position. However, I still think the whole business (of starting and arguing what is essentially the same topic over and over again) is an obsession rather than a sincere desire to encourage either discussion or debate.

Quite a few atheists strongly believe that God doesn't exist, among other things. Belief in a mechanistic universe is also popular.

Well, klassobanieras....
ATHEISM is disbelief in God. I looked it up.
Theism is belief in God or a higher power. Atheism is the opposite, a belief that there is no higher power.
So basically, I hypothesise, you can classify all the world's religions into those two categories. For instance:
THEISM - Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Catholicism, Mormonism, JWs, and all the million segmented facets of those main ones. Fatalism fits into this category, because it believes Fate is the higher power. Wicca fits here as well, Paganism, even Jedi-ism.
ATHEISM - Hedonism, Evolution, Democracy, Communism (which, like it or not, is a religion in its self), and anything that doesnt exactly fit those but lacks a higher power.
It is impossible to be unreligious. It is impossible not to believe in anything. I think a lot of you who classify yourselves as "atheists" aren't quite right on that. I think you're probably closer to agnostics. Especially Emp.
ag·nos·ti·cism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (g-nst-szm)
n.
The doctrine that certainty about first principles or absolute truth is unattainable and that only perceptual phenomena are objects of exact knowledge.
The belief that there can be no proof either that God exists or that God does not exist.

I don´t get it, you´re actually telling us that we are wrong about thinking we are atheists?!?!?!? You´re kidding right?!?
Your idea that Hiduism and Budhism are Theist doctrines is not correct. Hiduism is a form of pantheism and polyetheism. Budhism does not believe in a God, it is the exact opposite of theism. Most types of fatalism have nothing to do with a higher power. I don´t quite see how evolution is atheism, although atheists believe in evolution. And how can you say that democracy is a form of Atheism? You have overextended the term atheism way beyond its application. Now I can say that zoology is a form of Atheism, as is biology, liking rap music is a form of atheism, beleiving that my grandma is coming over today is a form of atheism.
Also, atheists claim proof that there is no God, logical proof. We are not unsure about Gods existence, we are sure that up to this point in time that nothing speaks for the existence of God, but everything speaks against it. Logical deduction is a valid form of proof. This is how physicists draw conclusions about particle behavior because we cannot see them directly.
Of course its impossible to not believe in anything. But it is certainly possible to be unreligious, haven´t you ever heard of people who are spiritual but not religious? They believe in a higher power, but not a central teaching. Religion is a system of beliefs that follows a central doctrine. And, while some have tried to fit atheists beliefs into a common doctrine, there is no central teaching that atheists follow. We are not religious! Stop saying that!! !! To think that is to misunderstand the word religious. Now, everyone in the world is religious because everyone believes in something. Even the dog who believes that his master will beat him today is religious.
Do you really want to challenge each others beliefs?!? I mean really, is that your intention?!?

Thats what I´m saying! He uses a semantic trick to defend his trolling!

The article you found should have mentioned that there are two definitions of atheism, the other being active belief in God's nonexistance. You need a more reliable source of information.
Agnosticism and atheism/theism are not mutually exclusive.
