Being in a band - or sharing something with others - it sounds like you need some friendships. In school, did you have a chance to play in the band? Do you like to sing?

I know this won't excite you, but could you sing with a church choir? Many, many musicians got their start that way.

I've never played in a real band. The closest I got to playing in a band was when some guys at the high school I went to said they were forming one and would get back to me on it but they never did. I knew some guys who talked a big game about forming a band but it ended up just being talk. This was because none of us lived close by to one another and our parents were working all the time.

Oh, I meant the school band - that plays at assemblies and football games.

So you never played an instrument in a group setting? (I never did, either.)

Self-started bands in high schools are not very common and most that do form, never get very far. So you shouldn't count yourself a failure for not doing that, because most other people don't, either.

I actually did play in the school band while I was in private school but it didn't lead to camaraderie with the others in my class. In fact, arguments and fights broke out a lot.

Now that I think about it, the other guys who talked about forming a band never truly did anything musical. One of them last I heard works for Acer if I recall correctly.

Say, are there any evening or community classes where you live? I live in a university town so there are, here. You can take a class in Thai cooking, comic book art, singing in a choir, etc. This is a good way to meet people as well as develop talents and skills.

Not everyone is good at the skills you mentioned

Not everyone has the same amount of total potential and skill

You might be good at something you have never tried
