I hope that’ll only be temporary like in March/April. Even here, I always got the sense that me might have another lockdown at some point, more likely during winter time.

In England there's evidence that COVID is being spread in social places like pubs and bars. So I think they should only close those and see how things go. I don't think they should shut the whole country again and make everyone suffer. The bus company I work for has just managed to get all the bus services back to normal again, and it is really going to mess things up if the whole country just goes back into lockdown.
I'm f*****g sick of it. I'm so scared my job might not survive this time. And where's the government going to get billions more money from to pay half the country furlough again and bail the surviving businesses out of going under?

We need money to live. Dying from poverty can be just as devastating as dying from COVID, but it seems that the whole world is playing a "the country with the less COVID deaths wins!" game. Let people with cancer, heart disease, severe mental health and lots and lots of other illnesses suffer or die, but nobody can die of COVID, so let's all panic and hide away in our homes until a miracle vaccine comes to demolish this such awful plague that 80% of people have little to no symptoms from and about 15% of people get ill but recover from.
So f****d up.

Yes indeed - what about those who die all the time from strokes, cancer, heart conditions, diabetes, road collisions etc?

Covid's treated differently just because it's apparently so contagious. In fact exposure to low levels of it might help our immune systems cope better with it, which is what they're designed to do.

Sanitizing is one of the best ways to control the virus apart from masks in enclosed spaces. But of course you can't wear masks while eating, drinking, smoking, having your hair done, talking (intelligibly that is...), singing or exercising. I have a slight hearing problem which is making it difficult to make out what masked folk are saying to me.

I feel your frustration. Why shut down the whole country if there’s only 1 or 2 types of places that the virus is being spread?

^That's why only bars & clubs are being closed here.

Almost all major retailers now have mandatory mask policies. So does public transit. But our top doc refuses to mandate a broader public mask policy because she doesn’t like the idea of Ordering people to do it and prefers to just ask them nicely and have people comply. That’s not working perfectly because there are too many morons who refuse. I’d rather she just mandated masks.

Here, and everywhere else on the planet, if everyone masked up in (especially indoor) public spaces, we could all go about life as Almost Normal - just 6’ apart whenever possible vs tightly crammed together.

Sure, dance floors and things like that are still cancelled, but we can still do Most things safely so long as people do the very simple basic act of wearing a mask to respect & protect one another. It’s not rocket surgery stuff here, folks. Anti-mask covidiots are the ones ruining our economies from here on in.

Aside: The only way I see more lockdowns coming in the USA is if Joe Biden wins in November and then Fauci/CDC recommend it and then he recommends it to Governors. Otherwise the USA has decided to just let Millions of people die along the process of achieving herd immunity while maskless.

Hand-washing, the mandatory wearing of face masks, cancelling big social events, closing bars and pubs, and keeping 2 metres apart is all that's needed to help control the virus. It will be easier for the government to pay furlough to just those who work in pubs and bars rather than shut the whole country down again and pay out billions.

But Tory government never take the easy way out. They make stupid decisions and make everyone's lives a misery. That is why I always vote labour.
