Atheist. I dictate my own life without fear of divine punishment and belief in fairy tales :D

I'm atheist because my father, who was raised Presbyterian (his father was a minister) and studied religion and philosophy in college, made some very compelling arguments against religion. Many religions, Christianity and Islam in particular, is just illogical and really not my thing. And I can't stand the homophobic attitude of today's religious groups.

We can neither prove nor disprove the existence of an omnipotent god (amongst other things) using something as limited as human reasoning and language. While the probability of such a god existing may be infinitesimally small, to be atheist is to accept an absolute claim (no god exists) without being able to prove it - a faux pas of sorts to those trained in logic and semantics.

If you want to get technical about it, agnosticism is the most scientific approach.

Quote:
Agnosticism (from the Greek a, meaning "without", and gnosticism or gnosis, meaning "knowledge") is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims—particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of God, gods, deities, or even ultimate reality—is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently unknowable due to the nature of subjective experience.

The more we learn, the more we realize the incredible ignorance of all humanity.

I guess I'm an agnostic, as we only know for certain what has been proven.

Anything that hasn't been proven is uncertain.

I'd like somebody to explain to me how it is possible to be brainwashed into Atheism.

Atheism is the belief that no god exists because there is NO proof that a god does exist, calling someone a brainwashed Atheist is like calling someone brainwashed because they believe in gravity.
There's no proof of The Big Bang
There's no proof that an asteroid killed the dinosaurs
There's no proof that this world is real
There's no proof that a comet struck Siberia in 1908
etc.

There's a lot of things that can't be proved.
I'm Atheist, but I see both points.

Atheists might say "What proof is there that God exists?" "What proof is there that the Bible is factual?"

Religious people might say "Is there anything to disprove the existence of God?" "How to YOU prove history as factual?"

I personally side with Atheism, but that was MY decision, it was not through brain-washing.

No, because they are annoying, and doesn't understand what "mind your own buisness", "I didn't ask for your opinion" or "shut the f... up!" means. I have yet to meet an intelligent brainwashed atheist, allthough I know many intelligent normal atheists.

the brainwashed theists are even more annoying then atheists here is a quote from www.evilbible.com
Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

i relate more to Atheists and we dont need proof for our claims because our only claim is that religion has failed to provide compelling evidence to prove the existence of God

course personally im against religion itself because nearly every(not all but nearly) war was caused by religious differences, religion has opposed EVERY(yes every) attempt to advance human society and they have opposed science ever since it began. religion has been the cause of more death and destruction than any person. Hitler was catholic, he was an alter boy as a kid and a confirmed Soldier of Christ, in Mein Kampf he expresses his love for the church he was great friends with Pope Pius(he had an alliance with the Pope as early as 1933 and Pope Pius attended his birthday at least until '39) who approved of the Holocaust because it was getting revenge on the Jews for the death of a Jesus Christ who has no evidence he existed other than 2nd hand sources. i have no problem defending anybodies religions that are being persecuted such as Islam is in America i have defended Islam more times than i can count mainly against the Christians even though their bible is no better its just that 90% of Christians are all "selective moralists" they take the parts of the bible that thgey like and shove it down everyone else's throats and the other parts they dont like such as the genocide, infanticide, murder, rape, pillaging and plundering and countless other atrocities(either allegedly performed by the so called "All-Loving" God or by his followers but ordered or at least supported by God) i dare anyone to read the Gospel of Joshua and if they still think God is "All-Loving" then you really gotta re-evaluate your Code of Ethics. religion is either an excuse to explain the unknown, a form of controlling the masses(most religions), or an excuse to kill and get away with it because God demanded it(most Abrahamic Religions; referring to the Dark Ages, Spanish Inquisition, Witch Hunts, Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre(performed by Catholics on Irish Protestants, the Pope gave the leader of the massacre a Golden Rose i believe and then had an artist depict the massacre to place them in the Vatican), and countless other murders

Agnostic. I don't know what's after death, quite frankly, I don't care. I'm here right now, and I don't want to bother worrying about after death until... well... after death. I prefer to live my life as I wish to. If I go to hell or wherever for enjoying my life, then I'll take hell.

It's funny when religious people try (and then fail) to defend their beliefs. I am a militant atheist, which for me is a good term. My mom is a Christian, as is her whole family, and tried to raise me as such. By 7th grade I had decided that all religions are BS, and chose to be an atheist on my own. I'm surprised there are many religious Aspies and autistic people, since a trait of us is to be logical thinkers.

i can agree with that but being a logical thinker my asperger has granted me with im an Agnostic Atheist for the reason you cant prove God exists but you cant prove God doesnt exist but i lean more towards atheism and it was in 7th grade when i found out the truth but 9th grade when i actually acted on it

now that i think about it i can be considered Militant Atheist also because i think EVERY religion is evil and im opposed to religion in general with a passion though due to my patriotic beliefs i tolerate religion because my bible(the US Constitution) says i should and most of out forefathers were either Atheist or Agnostic America was NOT founded on Christian beliefs thats a lie told by the church, i can name thousands of quotes by Jefferson, Washington, Franklin, Hobbe, an many others that disproves that theory

i am religiously intolerant personally but politically i am religiously tolerant

again this is due because i believe religion itself is the biggest source of evil(more than 75% of the people in jail for violent crimes were christian at the time of being arrested) but i must tolerate it because im a true American Patriot
