Is 2012 gonna be the end of the world?

I have been reading science fiction and fantasy fiction since the late 1930's. The theme has re-appeared many times by many authors in the genre.

An hourglass. Time up. Gate closes. What's on the other side? When the time is up does that mean the end of time? Will the concept of linear time become obsolete? Do we pass through intact with our physical bodies or do we get new bodies that aren't subject to gravity?

I think we've already entered (most of us at least once) but we're still in the transition phase which is like coming and going. The final phase of transition stabilization has been predicted to occur approx 12-21-2012. That's when each us will be required to make a final decision: To pass or not to pass.

One reason many people are disdainful, mocking and cynical about 2012 prophecy is because - ironically - they've already 90% made the transition. Unconsciously they know there's nothing big coming in the near future (i.e.2012) because for them it's already 90% a done deal. And it wasn't a big deal more of a cakewalk.

For the rest of us it's pretty much a big deal although there's a continuum of slightly uncomfortable at one end to unbearable at the other end. And we don't get forever to decide. There's a time limit and maybe it's the end of time. Bell rings. Time up. Did you pass through the gate?

I never take "end of the world" predictions seriously if it we that easy one of the many thousand prophecies would have guessed it correctly by now. besides that I hold the idea "Were not here for a long time we're here for a good time." So I enjoy life while I can.

Why is it that some people seem to be happy about predicting doomsday scenarios?

I find this completely bizarre.

It depends upon what you consider a problem. All those happy bacteria that inhabit our gut would undoubtedly take a gloomy view.
