Hi there folks,
~I'm quite sure christianity, judaism, islam and other religions as well will be there in, let's say, 100 years. That's fine with me as long I can have my own opinion on the matter and not being forced to follow what another thinks is best out of his or her religious beliefs.
~There are not really any winners or losers in this discussion. Couple of days ago I took quite a hard stand on this topic and Slowmutant said wisely 'it was a wedge-issue' and I wish not to divide. But as always it turns out to be an incendiary and somewhat endless dispute.
~I try to be nuanceful 'cos that the best way, I think, when you have a strong tendency to see things either black or white. That's cognitive self-therapy, I do.
~Out of a hundred (?) possibilities lots choose a singulair option and rule out any other option and in my humble opinion cut their own hand with it (= a Dutch expression, you'll understand).
~Religion isn't a bad thing, per se, our society has implicated it's (christian) morals, such as do not steal, don't kill thy neighbour, even if he is lousy bastard (haha), neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbour (haha), and other ones.
~And please don't get me wrong; I am not an atheïst, not anti, I am not against believers in a single Theo. I think just a lot of the stories told in the bible, koran, a.o. religious books I find not to be convincing at all.
~I have my own one-man's-religion. I am eclectic and try to build my foundation. With Mother Nature or Gaea as I call her as the most important or highest in my frame of referance. It's a bit pantheïstic but closer to home. Perhaps someday I will tell something more about it.
~Later more, 'cos my mouth is dry from all the talking outloud.
~P.S. I'm sorry 'bout the haha's. I try to be serious. Maybe it isn't funny for you and some say HF-autists don't have any humour. But that's a lot of horsemanure. Somewhat different perhaps then the NT's are able to comprehend and it's a good subject, I think, but then in a different post, perhaps.
