What is "deep state"?
Sounds like some state of mind.

Like Russia. Russia is a state of mind. Or at least we have such meme here.

(Sorry for going tangent, I guess I should have gone to sleep some time ago)

The one whose supporters are charging into the capital with a failed racist state's flag is the most racist.

I'm not America but f**k Dixie.

If you like Dixie, you're not American either btw.

The "deep state" is a conspiracy theory that believes there is a government within the government that is really controlling the US. And this government is run by Obama or some other perceived villain.

Although, you could say that Russia has been running the US through their "useful fool." So maybe there is something to it.

They were traitors.

And seceded for bad reasons too. States rights to do what exactly?... Ultimate racism.

America is at least built on some kind of hope of equality. OK the founding fathers had slaves but the vague promise was one of freedom.

Bit like France after the revolution.

So extending that freedom is extending the American dream. And owning slaves makes you lazier than anyone who ever needed to collect disability pay. "I don't want to bother working so I'm going to own people and force them to work instead"

No no no, Russia as a state of mind is not really political, it's things like this:

There seems to be mass denial over the reasons for the confederacy - you can see it in the civil war reenactments. Antebellum mansions, sipping tea on the porch overlooking estates and dressing up in confederate outfits.

I dont know iff crosposting is allowed, so i shall post the video of George Carlin again.
In my view Carlin gives a good example of the Deep-State. The mechanism in Russia and China is not much different in my view. Those who have money controle the state.

Looks like the term "deep state" can have a number of different meanings, from absolutely plausible unofficial networks and lobbying to most crazy conspiracies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_state

I don't think the bunch that went side by side with guys carrying Swastikas last night are in denial of it though.

And southern Black people don't tend to fly it.

I agree in theory that it can be nice to be proud of one's region but there needs to be a non-racist rebuilding of what that means for people in the south of the USA. Black and white and Latino people coming together to be proud of what they have there, make country music liberal again, etc. There's more to the modern American south, and actually to parts of its history, than its worst elements.

I think Biden is the most racist out of the two. He actually built cages to hold dark skinned migrant kids in.

But so did Trump. And Trump put way more into those cages, specifically to discourage immigration by splitting up families.

One possible alternate focus of southern pride could be the Anti-Confederate resistance in the south, such as Newton Knight, a Confederate army deserter who carried on guerrilla warfare against the Rebel cause in the heart of Dixie.
Sherman in fact made mention of Knight and his fighters, calling them Southern Yankees. After the war, Knight took part in Reconstruction, and even married a black lady who had been part of his guerilla fighting force. His descendants still live in Mississippi. I think he'd make a marvelous replacement for Robert E. Lee.
