I know someone who bought a vacation property and a boat in Mexico (married a Mexican woman) and eventually plans to retire there.

A move to Canada would mean political stability, but chances are you'll be working class poor and have to hustle to pay rent/mortgage if you live anywhere near a major desirable city. If you don't have family/friends in a major city and don't mind being out in a small town or more rural area, life has fewer financial pressures.

A move to Mexico wouldn't have the same political stability - way more corruption and violence there than Canada - but it would be way cheaper living and any savings you have would go a lot further there.

Pros/cons.

I'm already working class poor and grew up in a small rural town in the deep south. I'm used to that, but I guess I would have to get used to colder northern temperatures.

Do you guys get Aurora light? My friend in Washington State gets them and it's a state that touches the Canadian border. They look quite spectacular in the photos he shared with me.

We do, But, I've personally never seen them. (my dad says I saw them once when I was a kid, but I think I'd remember that..) They're VERY rare this far South, especially with the light pollution of the city, but a photographer captured Northern lights over Vancouver a week or so ago - barely visible green/purple to the naked eye, but was able to capture them reasonably well with a camera of some sort.

Whenever there's a strong chance of seeing them it's best to head to a dark area out of the city. But there are WAY better chances of seeing them the farther you go North. I know someone that was working up near the Alaskan border for several months and saw them looooots while there. A friend from the beach heard he could go North and see them, so he drove his toyota corolla North until he was somewhere way up in Northern BC and slept in his car for 3-4 nights until he and his friend got to see the light show, then came back. This was a year or two ago.

Refugees from Ukraine are shocked to find out how impossible it is to find a place to live here and that basement suites cost $2500/mo. They're sending word back home to people to tell them don't come to Vancouver or BC at all - get a direct flight to somewhere on the prairies where there are homes and they don't cost a mint.

Man i would love to see something like that in real life. I don't think we get them at all where I live.

Libertarianism is a fairly broad philosophy, you can be a pro life libertarian (no religion required, just belief that the unborn child is a person with rights), a libertarian socialist who wants something like small communes, a libertarian Democrat or Republican who largely agrees with their party platform but wants more personal liberties, or vice versa, a libertarian who picks one party or the other as less harmful to the rights they personally value, it's not a rigid ideology.

I don't support Trump personally, I think he's mercurial and incompetent (I defend him here because many of the attacks on him are false or misleading), where as I view the Democratic party as more dangerous to my liberties, and so tend to oppose them at every opportunity. I will admit, Trump has grown on me over the years purely based on his effects on my Blue Anon adversaries, I can't help but feel a certain fondness for someone who brings them the pain they so richly deserve; exposing the hollow shell of the media for what it truly is is a nice bonus.
