From what I know its most popular in the upper half of North America, for some reason. I met a few from the UK too.

Maybe it's a blue state thing, UK is fairly liberal so that's like being a blue state. On first glance, which is all I've seen, Wicca sounds like a Hollywood fad religion, like Baha'i or Scientology, no offense intended.

Basically its a manifestation and combination of earlier religions. Not completely a bad thing per se in certain areas..

I practically don't know anything about Wicca, but as long as it doesn't have prejudices like the other religions, and are more open minded about everything than the other religons, then that would be Ok for me, even if their belief system doesn't make any sense in a scientific point of view, but as long as everybody is happy there, and there is no damage and no discrimination, it sounds fine to me, I guess.

I see nothing whatsoever about Wicca that makes it any less silly than Christianity in specific, or other religions in general.

And before you assume things about me, I have read on the subject deeply, have been handfasted to a Wiccan, etc. I have no particular animus against it. I simply fail to see any way in which it differs significantly from other religions.

Can we just agree that they are all equally silly and leave it at that.

I would leave it at that, but I keep running into Wiccans who insist that their particular religion is better than the others for reasons X, Y, and Z. I know that it's the nature of religion to insist that one's own is better, but it still annoys me.

Oh and by the way, Wicca does have requirements, you have to be born into it. At least that's some some Wiccans see it.
If you have to be born into it then it must be right, ..joking. Its a clever and unique catch though, I got to admit. I remember some girls saying that in middle school. In that case I wonder who the first wiccan was and when they were born and how it happened...
GoatOnFire, who says its wrong to discriminate?
Doc_Daneeka, I agree how it has a lot of similarities with all other "spiritual" beliefs, but that doesnt make every religion silly. The copycats are the ones who make a joke out of themselves.

Well you don't have to be born into it, that's just one of those traditional beliefs, the same is true for Judaism (Though you can be accepted in if you jump through enough hoops).

They would have claimed decent from some old witch that was around during the Witch Trials I suppose.

Well to be fair, those are the only sources from which I have seen it, as I said earlier, Wiccans don't exactly abound in Texas.

I thought that was Massachusetts? In Texas it would be more like Deliverance. "squeal like a piggy!"

I think Wicca's become a fad....like being bisexual...as something to "be different." I've seen waaaaaay too many people I know start to call themselves "bi" and "a wiccan" when they're obviously not, which just shows they're just histrionic attention freaks.

(Don't worry, I'm not pointing fingers at you Kilroy. I don't know you well enough to make that judgement).
