What cliches, phrases, words, terminology do you hate?

Sorry I will talk about my problems and emotions and stim and do anything that will help me feal better even if u view it as abnormal, so I don’t become a up tight suppress @*#% like u

I’m sorry if I’m upset about something I cant force my brain to forget about it by telling my self about this wonderfully side affect, assuming there is one.
I sometims hate "people"

You'll all learn when you get older that "sometimes you have to do things that you don't want to"

I hate all business speak, or where someone uses lingo from one profession and applies it to another field altogether, to make themselves sound fresh and with it.

Actor lingo has now infected the world of IT. People talk about "the Stage" and "production" to refer to test platform and live platform.

I also hate it when people use phrases like "COLOURED" or "COLORED" to describe black people. They do it because they think saying the word black might somehow be offensive. Bizarre. Coloured could mean anything.

I don't like the world MEAL athough I have to use it.

God... I could go on forever.

When I was a kid I used to really hate adults who would see me leaning on two legs of a chair and say something along the following lines to me:

"STOP IT. You wouldn't do it at home so don't do it here"

I WOULD DO IT AT HOME. I LIKE DOING IT.

Ooh, I thought of one that peopel ALWAYS used to use on me:

"You're making a mountain out of a molehill."

People were always so mad at me for getting upset over things they thought trivial. I couldn't help it, and people seemed to be using that phrase on me constantly. not the best thing to say to a crying kid- how about, "It's not really that bad/we can fix this/it'll be OK/we'll figure out what to do about this when you're calmer." Don't upset someone more; problem-solve and deescalate them! DUH!

I'm almost pissing myself laughing.

Back on topic..... The topic could be about ferret's but then it evolves to talking about polecats also and guaranteed some smartass will come along and go "anyway back on topic....." like it is set in stone or something and you can be sure they feel more than sufficiently self-righteous and important for doing so!

Youll be laughing on the other side of your face. Umm not very likely is it? That one had me stumpted for years but i realised it was a warning. Does it mean the impact of someone hitting you will leave you're smirk the other side of you're face?

LOL! No you don't! You have so many better choices, like breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper... if worst comes to worst, just refer to it as 'that thing where we eat lots of food all put together'!

I hate being told "you're rationalising everything". My poppa used to say it all the time, and I always thought it was stupid: of course I was trying to be rational, what's wrong with rational! I eventually figured out that rationalising is like justifying... IN WHICH CASE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT?! Honestly, just because some people DON'T think logically about what they are saying...

That's the Invasion of The Styler-Ponces though. Development Server and Deployment Server is too hard for them, so they like to dress it up in 'razzle-dazzle-speak', to make themselves appear more impressive.

I could present a list of Most Hated Clichès, but that would take so long.

Most of the smug, upbeat, 'inspirational' little catchechisms make my blood boil and there are just so many of them.

I will come back to this topic, in order to produce what I hope is a 'definitive list' of annoying clichès which all really boil down to 'please, don't bother me with this stuff, I really don't care' - a comment that I would much rather hear than the false, ambiguated retort that most clichès seem to imply.

I propose a moratorium on clichès: If someone really does not want to hear what one might have to say, why can they not be honest and up front by saying "look, as important as this stuff is to you, I really don't want to have to hear it". Far less ambiguous then trotting out pre-baked 'nuggets of wisdom'. Perhaps the reason people aren't honest and direct is because they fear the same technique being applied to themselves at some later stage.
