but what if the mother had absolute faith in contraceptives? they haven't chosen to get pregnant, far from it
3 reasons why i hate this paragraph
1.
i thought it was pretty clear he was referring to human life, this is stupid, as soon as someone disagrees your riping out this gargantuan f*****g straw man
2.
not only that but then you move on to a personal insult, one that could be applied to you i dont think you've made any points that couldn't be found within 10 minutes of googling "abortion", and your benefit of society doesn't apply, ive never heard anyone pretend that unwanted children benefit society, zendell's Hitler comparison was apt, did the nation of Poland benefit German society? did the gypsys? i doesn't f*****g matter thats not the point
3.
zendell is pissing me off too, reading other peoples posts so selectively

it can easily be argued that pretty much all animal life is life all the same. if one is going to argue such an absurd thing as the sanctity of life with something that isn't even born yet* then i'll challenge them on other animals that has been born already and see how they value that life.
and i'm asking for societal reasons why it should be illegal. laws are made for the protection of the society on a whole. it's why there's a set alcohol law with drunk driving even though there are definitely people who can drive safely while over that limit. so i'm asking what the social consequences are of abortion. you spun my question around as asserting it as a social benefit...which i don't even have a need to go there yet because there's no reason for it to be illegal other than a bunch of brainwashed morons and the occassional touchy feely person who is against abortion like they're against eating meat: they get queasy at the sight of blood so they reject it.
get better reading comprehension skills.
*if you can have a miscarriage, you can have an abortion.
What is the difference between killing a 24 week old fetus (or whatever it's called) inside the womb versus killing a person outside the womb the day they are born prematurely at 24 weeks?
Biblically, it's "the breath of life". According to both the Bible and the Talmud, the fetus is considered property, but not a human being, until it's born and breathes.
Legally, see the response directly below your original post.
There, I'm pro-choice and I answered it. I'm not pro-abortion. Like everyone else who is pro-choice, I want to make abortions disappear via flawless birth control/family planning and the complete annihilation of rape and incest. Yeah, the latter's probably never going to happen, which is why it's so important that abortion remain legal and safe.

I completely agree with this comment.
i used the Hitler thing to demonstrate that the social consequences aren't relevant to the topic of why a 'fetus' is not human when it is as developed as some 'babies', a question about the life of the fetus' not its affect on society
im sorry i was too aggressive in my first post, but i don't believe there was any call to start insulting anyone

I disagree. Is it wrong to torture animals? Is it wrong to kill animals? Those are real moral questions, and they are tied to the debate on what it means to be 'pro-life'.
For those that think animal life is equal to human life, do you think people should be charged with murder and given life in prison for killing a rat?
Regarding whether "unwanted" babies are benefical:
1. there are parents waiting to adopt, I'd hardly call them unwanted
2. I don't see how they are any different than unwanted 2 year old children. Do you want to kill unwanted 2 year old children also?
3. One Democrat argument in support of illegal immigration is that America needs more people to work and contribute to social security. I think legal Americans would be a better choice.
Well, you know, if we had a market for children then frankly, we'd have less abortions. I mean, really. Frankly, because we cannot purchase the aborted children, we end up having more abortion.
No, just let them starve to death on the streets like any humane society would do.
Meh, we are doomed to failure no matter what under the current set up.
I don't, I just assumed that you did since neural complexity evidently is no concern for you.
I need you to explain to me why destroying a zygote is murder but killing a much more advanced animal (with a greater capacity for thinking and feeling) is not (note: I eat meat, this isn't an animal-rights argument. I'm trying to illustrate a point).

Zygotes when more developed become full-fledged human beings. Animals will never be human.

If you admit that it's immediate state isn't human, but that it counts as human life because it may one day be human, do you feel that coitus interruptus is murder since you claim that it's the future outcome that matters?
If not, why?

Have you ever seen pictures of the babies that are aborted? Anyone who isn't a strong partisan can clearly see that they are human beings and not just clumps of cells.
Below is a link to some pictures starting at eight weeks gestation when the fetus is able to kick and straighten his legs, turn them round and move his arms up and down. An 8 week old fetus looks human to me.

well, I always thought that I don't have the right and I shouldn't dare to condemn a woman or a girl for performing abortion, as a male, it is a lot easier for a man to say a lot of things.
There are things that are more important that people should worry about like helping and educating young girls and women to prevent unwanted pregnancies rather than an anti-abortion fanaticism.
And I agree when it comes to rape and young girls, they shouldn't be forced to be mothers if they don't want it and are still in time, should not be forced to abort either.
