God's power is simply a force beyond our understanding. If that is how you define magic then so be it. In fact I have no doubt that it may one day be possible to scientifically define God, however that day is a very long way off and it does not diminish God in the slightest.

No, if God could be scientifically defined He would not be God. You either underestimate God or overestimate science. Either way, I pity the fool who thinks God can be scientifically defined.

God is religon, and religon is faith, therfore god is faith. And magic requires faith.

How do you know that you are under the right god, what if the devil is tricking you, it is not as if christianity is the puest religon in the world. How many wars has Wicca had?

You are also putting up good points aswell. I would just rather do the right thing then possibly honor the wrong thing, what if I make someone angry if I do it.

How did you get into witchcraft, anyway?

Not into witchcraft, I have looked into it but it includes a lot of things that I do not like also, I saw a few things about nude rituals and stuff and just seemed a bit Alister Crowler so it felt either too satanic or naturealistic. What I have done is read a lot of books, such as a series called "Man, Myth and Magic", I do like some parts but the whole ritual thing does not sit right with me. I don't like the idea of ritual sumoning something, I also read up on what people thought of demons, such as selling the soul for a favour and have tried to stay away from that.

Your instincts are bang-on. I applaud you for having good Christian instincts. God warned you not to play with the occult and you heard Him. :salut: :wtg:

I just don't think that I should do so 1)bother god 2)if it is takeing special interest it might have another agenda and is not on gods side. I have heard of comunicating with the angles though, I read up on a person called Alister crowley, basicaly the idea of sexism cults or simular does not sound like a good path.

Believe me, God welcomes human attention. He managed to get my attention and then let me know what He wanted me to do with my life: ministry. And by that I do not mean going around converting people to my religion. The Prayer of St. Francis captures the spirit of the work I want to do. I might as well quote it here ...

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that we may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

All those things are good.

A thought poped into my head a while ago, what if the devil was infact gods most trusted angel, who was given the toughest job of testing humanity. Darkness is required for bringing out the brightest, as without poverty there would be no charity and if there was no charity then there could only be selfishness. Many workings of the devil could be tests to test our choices of doing the right thing, just as god may have testes Adam and Eve with the tree, maybe the snake was told to see if they would disobey god.

Satan was once called Lucifer, God's executive angel. But since Lucifer the "light-bringer" refused to submit to God's will, he was cast out and eventually founded Hell.

In that sense, there are no occult powers. Everything follows the laws of physics; not everything about physics is known. All of the historical magics operate by mechanisms that are now widely known, well documented, and no longer magic, totally mundane functions. It wasn't until fairly recently that people realized that fire was a rapid oxidation process, before which all sorts of theories about flame, matter, and heat persisted. Nothing is magic once it is understood; gunpowder remained magical for centuries, as none of the components had the same property.

Quote:
Walking through a wall, staying at the bottom of a river for weeks without any aids or appearing in two places at the same time are things that are done by using occult powers. Birds fly the same way that airoplanes do and there is nothing occult about it as any child can demonstrate with a piece of folded paper in the shape of a wing.

Yes, those three are really tough to explain by physics as it is currently understood, which is not to say that they could not be. Birds soar the way that gliders do, and fly by evolution of microsurfaced feathers in a complicated layering system determined by physics. If it had been that obvious, gliders would have been common in the ancient world. Airplanes fly by the large quantity of thrust produced by propellers or turbines. The knowledge of lift was very much occult in the time of DaVinci. Without going into such gross violations of the modern understanding of the universe:

Consider near-term precognition of phone calls as an occult power; my friends all joke about how we can "page" each other mentally even if we haven't spoken in weeks -- explain that with physics! Set aside the misunderstanding that if it isn't reproducible in a controlled setting, it isn't real (this is not good science; astrophysics relies on observation of pulsars and quasars). What is required is for scientists to observe this phenomenon, document it, formulate a hypothesis, and construct a test of the hypothesis. We concluded that it was precognition and not telepathy, although some of the wilder coincidences spook us. Now all that's needed is a way for it to happen!

If you include the power of mind over matter as a part of the still undicovered dimension of physics, then I would agree with you. When I speak of the laws of physics though, I mean the regular way things happen if no human mind interferes with them.
