"Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen" by Jane Hawking

If you had to emigrate, where would you go?

I'm stuck between Portugal or Canada. Portugal would be nice because what I've heard of the lifestyle, the mild weather, and access to the EU, but I would have to learn Portuguese. Canada would be nice because of being close to the US (physically and culturally) and I tend to like cold weather at times. I've never been to Ireland, but that may be a good one too. I'd have to visit to see what it's like.

What's something you came up with entirely? It could be a piece of art, an idea, a story, whatever as long as you created it.

I wrote a novella once. I wrote a novel too but never got past first draft with that so it's not 'complete'. But the novella was pretty much there. It was about a music journalist who became obsessed with an image of a missing girl who had never been found, presumed dead, and that had been used as an album cover by a briefly popular band. It was a sort of detective/ghost story with druggy bits. I tend not to like my own writing after a while but that story I'm still pretty proud of.

What's the most expensive tool you own?

My school-issued Chromebook, which according to the original manufacturer, retails for about 500$. Not even my very VERY old phone costs that much.

To the person below me: If you could jump into a novel or movie, which one and why?

(presuming you occor the lands powers, AE) if you chose Harry Potter, you could become a wizard)

The Gospel According to St. Luke, if I could be the quiet undocumented man in the corner with the concealed six-shooter. I just want to know what really happened.

Lord of the Rings because those novels always meant a lot to me. Being there would feel like home in a way. Well, I suppose it would depend on the region and time frame… I wouldn’t be too keen on spending much time in Mordor for instance.

Do you have a favorite artist or art style? If so, who or which one(s)?

I like cubism and symbolic art.

Do you think you could handle fame?

Maybe, but to make sure I don't mess up my well-being, I will make sure I stay in Oregon.

Same question.

I imagine the lack of anonymity might pose an issue for me.

Would you ever want to live in a mansion?

And I mean live in it, not just own it for the money.

No thanks, I wouldn't like to have a horse, nor care for one.

Same question.

Only if it came with a lifetime's supply of food and vet's fees, and a groom to keep it in good nick and take it for exercise when I couldn't be arsed. Even then I'm wary of keeping animals because they usually die before I do, and it hurts if I've got attached to them, and every time they're looking a bit ill I think "oh s**t, this is it." So I don't know.

Same question.

I would love a horse; my grandfather owns and races them, and I have been riding since age 5. Having my own would be amazing.
